PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's cross country teams will compete at the Nuttycombe Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin, on Friday, Oct. 17. The meet will be held at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course in Madison, Wis. The women's 6k championship race will begin at 12:50 p.m. EST.

Leading the pack for the women will be sophomore
Gabrielle Schmidt (Brisbane, Australia), senior
Cara Laverty (Derry, Ireland), sophomore
Anna Gardiner (Downpatrick, Northern Ireland), senior
Jane Buckley (Cork, Ireland) and freshman
Kate Currie (Christchurch, New Zealand).
Schmidt won the 2025 Friar Invitational 4K race in a time of 14:07.82 to help Providence to a first-place finish and followed it up with a 26th place finish at the Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational in 20:19.21. Laverty placed second at the Friar Invitational in 14:29.18 and 37th at the Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational (20:28.95).
Gardiner and Buckley made their season debuts at the Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational finishing in 20:48.46 and 21:05.88, respectively.
Currie placed third at the Friar Invitational (14:34.43) to begin the season and followed it up with a 21:05.51 performance at the Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational.
