MADISON, Wis. – The Providence College women's cross country team competed in the Nuttycombe Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin, on Friday, Oct. 17. The Friar women finished 28th (696 points). The women's race featured 18 teams ranked in the top-30 in the latest national poll. The Friar women's team was led by sophomore Gabby Schmidt (Brisbane, Australia) who finished in 95th place with a time of 21:06.9.

Anna Gardiner (Downpatrick, Ireland) finished 120th (21:19.9) and 134th (21:27.1, 133
rd scoring), respectively. Freshman
Kate Currie (Christchurch, New Zealand) crossed the line in 177th place (172
nd scoring) with a time of 21:59.8. Senior Niamh O'Mahony (Kerry, Ireland) rounded out the top five for the Friars, finishing 181st (22:03.2, 176th scoring). A total of 220 runners finished the race.
The Friars will return to action on Friday, Oct. 24 at the Rothenberg Run at the Mark Coogan Cross Country Course at Highland Park in Attleboro, Mass.
