Last Time Out vs. UMass Lowell
- The No. 7/6 Providence College men's ice hockey team fell late to No. 12/13 UMass-Lowell in a 1-0 defeat on Saturday (Jan. 25) at Schneider Arena.
Zachary Borgiel finished the night saving 25-of-26 shots, good for a .962 save percentage.

- Neither team tallied a score in the opening two periods, leaving the score tied at 0-0 through 40 minutes. The visiting River Hawks outpaced Providence on the shot chart in the first period 11-2 before the Friars outshot Lowell 11-8 in the second.
- Lowell looked to take the lead late in the third on a Dillan Bentley try in front, but a poke-save from
Zachary Borgiel denied the opportunity, keeping the score at 0-0.
- With just 10 seconds left to play in the third period, Lowell's Pierson Brandon fired an off-angle shot from the face-off dot, beating Borgiel glove-side to secure the 1-0 win for the River Hawks.

Scouting the Huskies:
- No. 9/9 UConn (15-5-3, 7-3-3 HEA) enters their matchup with the Friars following a successful weekend in the CT Ice Tournament, where the Huskies topped Quinnipiac 2-1 on Friday (Jan. 24) before besting Sacred Heart in a 1-0 win on Saturday (Jan. 25).

- Forward Hudson Schandor (6-15-21) paces the Huskies in assists this season with 15, followed by 11 from Muldowney, Jake Richard (6-11-17), and Kai Janviriya (0-11-11).
- Overall, Muldowney leads the Huskies in total points this season with 23, followed by Schandor with 21 points, and Tattle with 18 points on the year. In total 23 different Huskies have tallied a point this season, including 10 players with 10+ points.
- In net, the Huskies have split starts between junior goaltender Tyler Muszelik and freshman netminder Callum Tung. Svedebäck Named Hockey East Goaltender of the Month/Mike Richter Award Watch List
Providence College junior Philip Svedebäck (Växjö, Sweden) was named Stop It Goaltending's Hockey East Goaltender of the Month for December on Friday, January 3. This marked Svedebäck's first-career monthly recognition as a Friar. Svedebäck led all Hockey East goaltenders in December with four wins. He stopped 79-of-87 shots he faced last month, good for a 2.00 GAA and .908 save percentage. Overall in 2024-25, Svedebäck is 11-4-2 with a 2.37 GAA and .914 save percentage in 17 games played. For the third-consecutive season, he was named to the Mike Richter Award Watch List for the top NCAA Division I goaltender.

Eight Former Friars Earn Spots On NHL Opening Night Rosters
The Friars boasted eight alums that appeared on NHL opening night rosters - Noel Acciari (PIT), Jacob Bryson (BUF), Vincent Desharnais (VAN), Brandon Duhaime (WSH), Mark Jankowski (NSH), Kevin Rooney (CGY), Brandon Tanev (SEA) and Jake Walman (SJ).

Callahan Makes NHL Debut
Former Friar captain Mike Callahan '22 made his NHL debut with the Boston Bruins on Jan. 14 against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He finished the night with a +1 rating in 14:11 of ice time.

Connelly Wins Gold With the U.S. At The 2025 World Junior Championship
Freshman
Trevor Connelly won gold with the United States at 2025 World Junior Championship after their 4-3 overtime win over Finland in the gold medal game on Jan. 5. Connelly finished the tournament with one goal, three assists and a +3 rating over seven games.

Leaman Hits Milestone
Head Coach
Nate Leaman earned his 249th career victory at Providence on Nov. 11, 2023, passing Lou Lamoriello as the program's winningest head coach all-time. On October 25, 2024, Leaman hit 400 career wins as a Division I head coach in Providence's 3-2 overtime win at Vermont. Leaman is the only Hockey East coach to post a winning record in each of the last 12 seasons.

Svedebäck, Richard, Adams Nominated for 2025 Hobey Baker Award
Providence College men's ice hockey junior goaltender Philip Svedebäck (Växjö, Sweden), senior defenseman
Guillaume Richard (Cap-Sante, Que.), and sophomore forward
Tanner Adams (Northport, N.Y.) were all named as nominees for the 2025 Hobey Baker Award on Wednesday (Jan. 22). In 16 games this season, Svedebäck has posted a 11-4-1 record alongside a 2.34 GAA and .916 save percentage. Richard has posted seven assists this season to go alongside a team-leading 31 blocked shots. Adams paces the Friars in goals this season with nine and ranks second in overall scoring with 15 points on the year.
