No. 10/11 Men's Hockey Skates To 2-2 Tie With No. 3 Boston University; Earns Shootout Win

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The No. 10/11 Providence College men's hockey team skated to a 2-2 tie with conference opponent No. 3 Boston University on Friday (Feb. 16) at Schneider Arena. Hudson Malinoski scored the lone goal in the 1-0 shootout victory, earning an extra conference point for the Friars.

NOTES
- The Friars' offense got to work early in the first period, Chase Yoder re-directed a Guillaume Richard shot off the body of Riley Duran for his ninth goal of the season to give the Friars a 1-0 lead at 4:34.
- Boston University found the equalizer late in the first frame, as Nick Zabaneh netted a breakaway opportunity on the penalty kill to lock the game at 1-1.
- The Terriers broke the tie at the 11:30 mark in the second period, with a setup from Jack Hughes and Jack Harvey feeding Sam Stevens in front of the net to put BU ahead 2-1.
- Providence found the equalizer just over three minutes later on the power-play, as a pass from Hudson Malinoski found Graham Gamache behind the net, before hitting Tanner Adams in the slot to give the freshman his sixth goal of the year.
- The Friars and Terriers skated to a scoreless third period, with the Friars edging the Terriers in the shot count, 11-10.
- Neither team could strike in the extra period, as Svedebäck three attempts from the Terriers in the extra period. Providence earned the extra conference point in a 1-0 shootout victory, by way of a five-hole goal from Hudson Malinoski. Svedebäck denied Quinn Hutson, Macklin Celebrini and Lane Hutson in the shootout round.
- Six different Friars tallied points in the tie, headlined by goals from Riley Duran and Tanner Adams.
- Providence outshot Boston University 37-29 in the tie, with six shots on net from Austen May. Fifteen different Friars made an attempt on net, including six players with at least three shots on goal.
- Philip Svedebäck finished the night denying 27 shots, good for a .931 save percentage.
