Last Time Out vs. Colorado College
- The No. 10/10 Providence College men's hockey team earned a weekend sweep over No. 8/8 Colorado College with a 5-1 win at Schneider Arena on Saturday (Dec. 7). Nine different Friars tallied points in the win, headlined by
Taige Harding's four-assist performance.
-Â Neither team cracked the scoreboard in the opening frame, however the Friars dominated on the shot chart, outshooting Colorado College 15-3 through the first 20 minutes.
- Providence tallied the first goal of the night 5:34 into the second period, as
Andrew Centrella fired a shot on net, making contact with Mbereko's helmet before popping into the air and falling into the goal.
Tomas Machu and
John Mustard each earned an assist on the opening score.
- The Friars doubled their lead seven minutes later, when
Logan Will collected a
John Mustard rebound up front before elevating the puck to the top corner to make it 2-0.
Taige Harding was also credited with an assist in the effort.
- Colorado College pulled within one early in the third period, as Gleb Veremyev caught a piece of a Max Burkholder shot from the blue line before re-directing it in to make it 2-1.
- Providence extended their lead 12:34 into the third period, as
Logan Sawyer corralled the puck in the offensive zone off a full-ice pass from
Taige Harding, before connecting across the crease with
Graham Gamache for the tap-in, his fourth goal of the season.
- The Friars tacked on their fourth goal of the night just a minute and a half later, as Mustard collected the puck off the boards before rifling it past Mbereko's glove-side to make it 4-1.

- With 26.8 seconds remaining in the third, forward
Aleksi Kivioja buried the puck into the empty net from the Providence zone, giving the freshman his first collegiate goal and bringing about the final 5-1 score.
- Philip Svedebäck turned away 22-of-23 shots in the win, earning himself a .957 save percentage.
- Nine different Friars tallied a point in the win, headlined by
Taige Harding's four-assist effort and a one goal, two assist showing from
John Mustard.
- In total, 16 different players landed a shot on net in the win, paced by three-shot performances from
Logan Will,
Nick Poisson, and
Logan Sawyer.
- Providence extended its winning streak to five games and improved to 4-1-0 against NCHC teams this season.

Scouting the Huskies:
- Northeastern (4-8-3, 1-6-3 HEA) enters their game with the Friars following a two-week break without action. In their last game with Merrimack on Dec. 14, the Huskies fell to the Warriors in a 4-1 road loss.
- Through 15 games this season, forward Cam Lund (8-10-18) leads the team in goals with eight, followed by both Jack Williams (7-8-15) and Dylan Hryckowian (7-8-15) with seven goals each.
- Defenseman Vinny Borgesi (2-12-14) paces the Huskies in assists this season with 12, followed by 10 from Lund and eight from both Williams and Hryckowian.
- Overall, Lund leads the Huskies in total points this season with 18, followed by 15 from Williams and Hryckowian, and 14 from Borgesi.
- In net, Northeastern has looked to sophomore Cameron Whitehead, who in 15 starts has fought to a 4-8-3 record while posting a 2.84 goals against average and .908 save percentage.
- This season, Northeastern has struggled on the power-play, having converted on just 9.8% of opportunities, ranking fourth-worst across the nation behind Lindenwood (8.9%), Army (7.7%), and Northern Michigan (7.0%). Similarly, the Huskies have struggled on the penalty kill, stopping just 72.3% of opposing power-plays, ranking sixth-worst nationally.

Series History vs. Northeastern
Providence's matchup with Northeastern on Dec. 28 marks the third of four meetings between the Huskies and Friars this season. Since the 2021-22 season, Providence has earned a 5-2-3 record over the Huskies and are currently riding an eight game unbeaten streak, dating back to a 2-1 Friars win in Boston on Oct. 15, 2022. In that span, the Friars are 1-1-3 at home and 4-1-0 when facing the Huskies at Matthews Arena. The Friars and Huskies will face off again in the regular season finale on Mar. 8 at Matthews Arena in Boston.

- No. 17 Dartmouth (6-3-2, 4-2-1 ECAC) enters their game with the Friars following a two-week break without action. In their last game, the Big Green tied with New Hampshire 3-3 before falling in the shootout 1-0.
- Through 11 games this season, forward Sean Chisholm (7-5-12) leads the team in goals with seven, followed by Hayden Stavroff (6-3-9) with six and both John Fusco (4-4-8) and Steven Townley (4-1-5) with four each.
- Forward Nikita Nikora (2-12-14) paces the Big Green in assists this season with 12, followed by CJ Foley (3-10-13) with 10 and Cooper Flinton (3-6-9) with nine.

Berard Makes NHL Debut; Stauber Posts First-Career Shutout
Former Friar Brett Berard made his NHL debut for the New York Rangers on Nov. 25, earning an assist against St. Louis. He followed up with his first-career goal the following game at Carolina. Former Friar netminder Jaxson Stauber earned his first NHL shutout and the first shutout in Utah Hockey Club history with a 29-save performance in a 6-0 win at Vegas on Nov. 30.

Connelly With the U.S. At The 2025 World Junior Championship
Freshman
Trevor Connelly is currently participating with the U.S. at the 2025 World Junior Championship held in Ottawa, Ontario. In his first game against Germany on Dec. 26, he registered a goal, an assist and a +3 rating in the 10-4 victory.

Leaman Hits Milestone
Head Coach
Nate Leaman earned his 249th career victory at Providence on Nov. 11, 2023, passing Lou Lamoriello as the program's winningest head coach all-time. On October 25, 2024, Leaman hit 400 career wins as a Division I head coach in Providence's 3-2 overtime win at Vermont. Leaman is the only Hockey East coach to post a winning record in each of the last 12 seasons.

Tanner Adams (8-5-13) leads the Friars with eight goals on the year, followed by six from

Through nine conference matchups, Providence (12-3-2, 5-2-2 HEA) sits in a four-way tie for second place in the Hockey East standings with 17 points, alongside Boston College (12-2-2, 5-2-2 HEA), Boston University (9-6-1, 5-3-1 HEA), and UMass-Lowell (10-4-2, 5-3-1 HEA). With an assist in the third period against Long Island University on Nov. 23, graduate student
Nick Poisson became the 55th member of the program to reach the 100-point milestone. Poisson also scored the game-winning goal in the 4-3 win.

While not guaranteed, if the Friars face No. 17 Dartmouth at the Ledyard Classic on Dec. 29, it will mark the team's eighth meeting with a ranked opponent on the season, and the first since the Friars' sweep over No. 8 Colorado College on Dec. 6-7. This season, the Friars are 4-3-0 in ranked matchups, including a 1-2-0 record in Hockey East action, and are currently riding a three-game win streak over ranked opponents.

Mustard Earns Hockey East Player of the Week Honors
Providence College's
John Mustard (Oradell, N.J.) was named Hockey East Player of the Week on Monday, December 9, just a week after securing Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week honors. Mustard was instrumental in the sweep over No. 8 Colorado College, as he logged the primary assist on the game-winning goal in Friday's 4-3 win before logging a goal and two assists in Saturday's 5-1 win. With his four-point weekend, Mustard extended his point streak to five games (3-5-8).
