Will Elger, Tanner Adams and Graham Gamache scored for the Friars on Saturday

HANOVER, N.H. –– The No. 7 Providence College men's hockey team opened the second half of the season with a 3-1 victory over Northeastern at the Ledyard Classic in Hanover, N.H. With the win, the Friars extended their winning streak to six games.

NOTES

- The teams skated through a scoreless first period as the Huskies registered the lone power play chance in the first 20 minutes of action.

- The Friars' best opportunity came off a Alexander Bales centering pass to Tanner Adams but his one-timer attempt was denied by Whitehead to keep the game scoreless.

- Will Elger broke the ice just 47 seconds into the second period on a breakaway for his sixth goal of the season. Hudson Malinoski and John Mustard earned the assists on the play, with Mustard extending his point streak to six games (3-6-9).

- The Friars struck again at the 11:02 mark to make it 2-0 on Tanner Adams' team-high ninth goal of the year. Andrew Centrella and Logan Will were credited with assists. Will also extended his point streak to six games (1-6-7) and continues to lead Providence in scoring this season with 16 points.

- Jack Williams got the Huskies back within a goal at 2-1 with 8:05 remaining.

- Graham Gamache gave the Friars insurance after he one-timed a centering pass from Aleksi Kivioja for his fifth goal of the season.

- Providence extended its winning streak to six games and improved to 2-0-1 against Northeastern this season.
