Last Time Out vs. UMass (1-1-0):
- Ryan O'Reilly and Logan Sawyer scored while Philip Svedeback stopped the final 25 shots he faced as the No. 10/9 Providence College men's hockey team defeated RV/No. 20 UMass, 2-1, on Thursday night at the Mullins Center.
- Larry Keenan gave the Minutemen an early 1-0 lead just 1:19 into the game after firing a shot from the point through a screen.
- After a pair of unsuccessful power plays, the Friars tied the game at 1-1 as Ryan O'Reilly snapped a shot into the top right corner for his fourth goal of the season. Graham Gamache and Guillaume Richard assisted on the play.
- Providence took a 2-1 lead at 4:03 of the second period on a power-play strike by Logan Sawyer on a one-timer off a feed from Hudson Malinoski. Andrew Centrella also earned an assist, his seventh of the season.
- Svedebäck turned away all 10 shots he faced in the third period to preserve the win.
- On Saturday, Friars closed out their weekend series with Massachusetts with a 5-1 loss at Schneider Arena.
- UMass opened the scoring early in the first period, as Linden Alger netted the puck high stick-side for the 1-0 lead.
- Massachusetts' Aydar Suniev made it 2-0 while on the power play just over two and a half minutes later, connecting on a shot from the blue line.
- The Friars got one back midway through the first period when Connor Kelley connected on a one-timer feed from John Mustard to make it 2-1. Hudson Malinoski assisted on the goal with his face-off win to set up the play.
- The Minutemen regained their two goal advantage late in the second period, as Lucas Olvestad fired from the blue line, ringing it off the post and in to make it 3-1.
- UMass tacked on a pair of goals in the third period from Aydar Suniev and Dans Locmelis to bring about the final 5-1 score.
- With the loss, Providence's unbeaten streak ended at nine games (7-0-2).

Scouting the Eagles:
- No. 3 Boston College (7-2-0, 2-1-0 HEA) enters their Tuesday night matchup with the Friars following a 5-4 road loss on Friday (Nov. 15) at Connecticut.
- Through nine games this season, forward Ryan Leonard (6-5-11) paces the Eagles in goals with six, followed by Gabe Perrault (5-8-13) and Andre Gasseau (5-2-7) with five each.
- Freshman forward James Hagens (1-10-11) leads the Eagles in assists with 10 on the year, followed by eight from Perrault and five from both Leonard and Eamon Powell (1-5-6). Hagens' total is tied with eight other players for eighth-most nationally.
- Perrault leads the team in total points this season with 13, followed by 11 from both Hagens and Leonard. In total, 17 Eagles have tallied a point this season, including six players with at least five points.
- In net, the Eagles have primarily looked to Jacob Fowler, who has earned a 7-1-0 record in nine appearances to go along with a 1.55 goals against average and a .943 save percentage. In one appearance this season, backup goaltender Jan Korec  has earned a 0-1-0 record alongside a 1.83 goals against average and a .941 save percentage. On Nov. 16, Hockey East announced Jacob Fowler would be suspended for Tuesday's matchup with the Friars.
- Defensively, Boston College has been one of the strongest teams nationally, averaging a third-best cumulative save percentage of .939, trailing only Minnesota State (.942) and Colorado College (.941). The Eagles have also allowed the fourth-fewest goals per game, tied with Maine at 1.7 and trailing Denver (1.4), Minnesota State (1.5) and Colorado College (1.6).
- Boston College has been elite on the penalty kill this season, tied with Lake Superior State as one of the only two programs yet to yield a goal while shorthanded this season.
- With an average age of 20.1 years, Boston College skates the youngest roster across the NCAA.
Series History vs. Boston College (55-123-17, .326)
Tuesday's game with Boston College marks the first of three games between the Friars and Eagles this season. Since the 2021-22 season, Providence has fought to a 2-2-3 record against Boston College, with the most recent result being the Friars' 4-3 home win over the then No. 1 Eagles on Jan. 13, 2024. In that span, the Friars are 1-0-2 at home and 1-2-1 when facing the Eagles at Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill.
 
Eight Former Friars Earn Spots On NHL Opening Night Rosters
The Friars boasted eight alums that appeared on NHL opening night rosters - Noel Acciari (PIT), Jacob Bryson (BUF), Vincent Desharnais (VAN), Brandon Duhaime (WSH), Mark Jankowski (NSH), Kevin Rooney (CGY), Brandon Tanev (SEA) and Jake Walman (SJ).
 
Leaman Hits Milestone
Head Coach Nate Leaman earned his 249th career victory at Providence on Nov. 11, 2023, passing Lou Lamoriello as the program's winningest head coach all-time. On October 25, Leaman hit 400 career wins as a Division I head coach in Providence's 3-2 overtime win at Vermont. Leaman is the only Hockey East coach to post a winning record in each of the last 12 seasons.
 
Leading the Pack:
Through 11 games this season, Tanner Adams (5-4-9) and Will Elger (5-3-8) pace the Friars with five scores each, followed by four from Logan Will (4-5-9) and Ryan O'Reilly (4-2-6). Andrew Centrella (1-7-8) leads the Friars in assists this season with seven, followed by five assists from six different players. Adams and Will lead the team in total points this season with nine each, followed by eight points from Elger and Centrella.
 
King of the Hill
Through eight conference matchups, Providence (7-2-2, 5-1-2 HEA) sits in first place in the Hockey East standings with 16 points registered. Rounding out the top five include Maine (7-2-2, 4-2-2 HEA) in second with 15 points, UMass-Lowell (8-2-0, 4-1-0) in third with 12 points, and both UConn (6-5-1, 3-4-1 HEA) and Vermont (2-6-3, 2-4-2 HEA) tied in fourth place with 10 points each.
 
Poisson Among Active Leaders
With an assist on Nov. 1 against New Hampshire, graduate student Nick Poisson sits one point shy of the century mark in career scoring with 99 points. He aims to become the 55th member of the program to reach the 100-point milestone.
 
Quality Check
Tuesday's matchup with No. 2 Boston College marks the Friars' fourth meeting with a ranked opponent this season, having previously split with RV/No. 20 Massachusetts following a season-opening loss to No. 6 North Dakota. This season, the Friars are 1-2-0 in ranked matchups, including a 1-1-0 record in Hockey East action.
