The Friars will travel to Marquette University on Thursday, Oct 24. at 8:00 p.m. (ET) and host Villanova University on Senior Day on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 1:00 p.m.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's soccer team is set to visit Marquette University on Thursday, Oct. 24 at 8:00 p.m. (ET). The match will be played on Valley Fields in Milwaukee, Wis. The match will be streamed on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports. The Friars will host Villanova University on Sunday Oct. 27 at 1:00 p.m. The match will be played on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium in Providence, R.I. The game will be streamed on FloSports. The game will mark Providence's Senior Day game. The team will recognize five seniors and three graduate students.

SCOUTING THE FRIARS... The Friars enter the week with a 6-8-1 overall record and are 3-4-0 in BIG EAST conference play. Providence posted a 3-4-1 non-conference record to start the season. In BIG EAST play, the Friars have wins over St. John's, 1-0, Butler, 1-0 and No. 20 Xavier, 2-1. Last week, Providence went 1-1, falling at home to Georgetown, 1-0 and defeated No. 20 Xavier on the road, 2-1. The Friars are currently eighth in the BIG EAST standings with nine points.
Graduate student Kacey Lawrence (Monroe, Conn.) leads the Friars' offense with 12 points. Lawrence owns a team-best in goals (four) and assists (four).
Sophomore Marryn Gruhn (Northport, N.Y.) and freshman Kristin Middaugh (Lancaster, N.Y.) have each scored two goals for the Friars this season.
Sophomore Kayla Briggs (Toronto, Canada) and Ella McBride have each scored one goal and contributed one assist this season.
Freshman Stephanie Schoeley (Thedford, Ontario) and junior Alanna Coffie (Warwick, R.I.) each scored one goal for the Friars.
Goalkeepers Emma Bodmer (Monroe Township, N.J.) and Ellie Thallman (Northville, Mich.) have shared time in net this season. Bodmer has started all 15 games for the Friars logging 795 minutes in net. This season the graduate student has maintained a .708 save percentage. Thallman has appeared in 12 games logging 540 minutes in net for the Friars. The graduate student has logged a .800 save percentage this season. The duo has combined for three shutouts this season.
MARRYN GRUHN NAMED TO THE BIG EAST WEEKLY HONOR ROLL... Sophomore Marryn Gruhn was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Oct. 21. Gruhn scored the game-winning goal at No. 20 Xavier in the 72nd minute of the match. The sophomore's goal helped the Friars secure their first win versus a nationally ranked opponent since 2018 when the team defeated No. 15 Georgetown.
ELLIE THALLMAN NAMED BIG EAST GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK... Graduate student Ellie Thallman was named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week on Sept. 30. Thallman kept two second half clean sheets versus St. John's, 1-0 and Butler, 1-0. The graduate student recorded two saves including a penalty kick save against Butler.
TWO MEMBERS OF THE FRIARS QUALIFIED FOR THE 2024 FIFA UNDER-20 WORLD CUP… Junior Ella McBride (Peterborough, Canada) and Sophomore Kayla Briggs (Toronto, Canada) qualified for the U-20 FIFA World Cup 2024 and represented Canada's National Team. McBride recorded one goal and two assists on the tournament. Briggs scored two goals and recorded one assist for Canada.
KAYLA BRIGGS NAMED TO PRESEASON ALL-BIG EAST TEAM... Sophomore Kayla Briggs received preseason recognition as a member of the Preseason ALL-BIG EAST Team. The BIG EAST released its 2024 Preseason Coaches' Poll and preseason honors Tuesday (Aug. 13).
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST MARQUETTE... The Friars hold a 5-12-3 all-time record against the Golden Eagles. In their last meeting, Providence defeated Marquette,1-0 in Providence, R.I. in 2023.
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES... Marquette enters Thursday's contest with a 4-10-3 overall record and holds a 1-5-1 record in BIG EAST play. In their last match, Marquette was defeated at Georgetown, 4-0.
Senior midfielder Tess O'Connell leads the Golden Eagles offense this season with a team-best five goals and has recorded 1 assist. Sophomore forward Emily Fix has added three goals and one assist this season for the Golden Eagles.
Goalkeepers Elise Krone and Chloe Olson have split time in net this season. Krone has appeared in 10 games logging 855 minutes in goal this season. The sophomore holds a 0.750 save percentage. Olson has appeared in eight games, tallying 671 minutes in net this season. The senior holds a 0.696 save percentage.
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST VILLANOVA... The Friars hold a 17-13-3 all-time record against the Wildcats. In their last meeting, Providence defeated Villanova, 1-0 in Villanova, Pa. in 2023.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS... Villanova enters Sunday's contest with a 5-5-5 overall record and holds a 2-1-4 record in BIG EAST play. Before facing the Friars, the Wildcats will host Georgetown on Thursday, Oct. 24. In their last match, Villanova defeated Marquette, 3-0 in Milwaukee, Wis.
Senior midfielder Susanna Soderman leads the Villanova offense with a team-best in goals (six) and assists (three). Junior forward Emma Flick has added six goals and seven assists for the Musketeers. Freshman Madison Shumate has contributed three goals and one assist for the Wildcats this season.
Junior goalkeeper Hannah Dickinson has started all 15 games for Villanova in net. The junior holds a save percentage of 0.844 this season for the Wildcats.
UP NEXT... The Friars will conclude regular season play at home versus DePaul on Thursday, Oct. 31 at 6:00 p.m. The match will be played on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium in Providence, R.I. The Blue Demons currently hold a 4-6-5 overall record and are 2-3-3 in BIG EAST play. DePaul will visit UConn and St. John's before facing Providence.
