Women’s Soccer Was Defeated At Marquette, 2-1

The Friars return to action on Sunday, Oct, 27 at home versus Villanova on Senior Day.

Milwaukee, Wis.- The Providence College women's soccer team was defeated by Marquette University, 2-1, on Thursday, October 24 on Valley Fields in Milwaukee, Wis. Providence fell to 6-9-1 overall and 3-5-0 in BIG EAST play. Marquette improved to 5-10-3 overall, and 2-5-1 in the BIG EAST.

GAME FLOW AND NOTES           
- Josie Bieda scored for Marquette to give the Golden Eagles the lead in the first half. Her goal was assisted by Tess O'Connell. 
- Gillian Kenney (Hanover, Mass.) drew a foul inside the box to give the Friars a penalty kick. Ella McBride (Peterborough, Canada) beat the keeper left to tie the game for the Friars in the second half (62nd minute). This marks McBride's second career goal versus Marquette.  
- Tess O'Connell scored a header from inside the box to regain the lead for Marquette late in the second half (67:47). Her goal was assisted by Maggie Starker and Alexa Maletis. 
- Kayla Briggs (Toronto, Canada) recorded a game-high seven shots with one shot on goal. Her lone shot on goal was reviewed and eventually ruled no goal.  
- Corinne Dente (Samford, Conn.) and Ella McBride both recorded a game-high two shots on goal for the Friars.
