The Friars will visit the University of Connecticut on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 7:00 p.m. and Seton Hall Sunday, Oct. 6 at 1:00 p.m.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's soccer team is set to visit the University of Connecticut on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 7:00 p.m. The match will be played on Joseph J. Morrone Stadium at the Rizza Performance Center in Storrs, Conn. The match will be streamed on FloSports. The Friars will then take on Seton Hall on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 1:00 p.m. The road match will be played on Owen T. Carroll Field in South Orange, N.J. and will be streamed on the BIG EAST Digital Network.

SCOUTING THE FRIARS... The Friars enter the week with a 5-4-1 overall record and are 2-0-0 in BIG EAST conference play. Providence has early season wins over Rhode Island, 1-0, Holy Cross, 2-1 and Northeastern, 3-2. The Friars opened BIG EAST play 2-0-0 last week, defeating St. John's, 1-0 and Butler, 1-0.
Graduate student Kacey Lawrence (Monroe, Conn.) leads the Friars' offense with 12 points through 10 games. Lawrence owns a team-best four goals and four assists.
Freshman Kristin Middaugh (Lancaster, N.Y.) has scored two goals for the Friars this season.
Sophomore Kayla Briggs (Toronto, Canada) has scored one goal and contributed one assist in four games played this season for the Friars.
Freshman Stephanie Schoeley (Thedford, Ontario), sophomore Marryn Gruhn (Northport, N.Y.) and junior Alanna Coffie (Warwick, R.I.) have each scored one goal for the Friars.
Goalkeepers Emma Bodmer (Monroe Township, N.J.) and Ellie Thallman (Northville, Mich.) have shared time in net this season. Bodmer has started all 10 games for the Friars logging 570 minutes in net. This season the senior has maintained a 0.679 save percentage. Thallman has appeared in five games logging 315 minutes in net for the Friars. The graduate student has logged a 0.733 save percentage this season.
ELLIE THALLMAN NAMED BIG EAST GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK... Graduate student Ellie Thallman was named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week on Sept. 30. Thallman kept two second half clean sheets versus St. John's, 1-0 and Butler, 1-0. The graduate student recorded two saves including a penalty kick save against Butler.
TWO MEMBERS OF THE FRIARS QUALIFIED FOR THE 2024 FIFA UNDER-20 WORLD CUP… Junior Ella McBride (Peterborough, Canada) and Sophomore Kayla Briggs (Toronto, Canada) qualified for the U-20 FIFA World Cup 2024 and represented Canada's National Team. McBride recorded one goal and two assists on the tournament. Briggs scored two goals and recorded one assist for Canada.
KAYLA BRIGGS NAMED TO PRESEASON ALL-BIG EAST TEAM... Sophomore Kayla Briggs received preseason recognition as a member of the Preseason ALL-BIG EAST Team. The BIG EAST released its 2024 Preseason Coaches' Poll and preseason honors Tuesday (Aug. 13).
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST UCONN... The Friars hold an 4-30-3 all-time record against the Huskies. In their last meeting, the Friars lost 2-1 in Providence, R.I.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES... UConn enters Thursday's contest with a 6-2-3 overall record. The Huskies are 0-2-1 in BIG EAST play after tying St. John's, 3-3 and No. 21 Xavier 1-1. In their last match, UConn was defeated by Georgetown, 3-1.
Junior Chioma Okafor leads UConn this season with 20 points on nine goals and two assists. Okafor was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 9. Junior Lina Dantes, senior Sophie McCarthy and Freshman Naia Ocio have each contributed five points on two goals and one assist for the Huskies. Goalkeeper Kaitlyn Mahoney has started all 11 games for the Huskies this season logging 955 minutes in net. The graduate student holds a 0.705 save percentage on 31 saves and 13 goals allowed.
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST SETON HALL... The Friars hold a 13-9-0 all-time record against the Pirates. In their last meeting, the Friars won 3-1 in Providence, R.I. in 2023.
SCOUTING THE PIRATES... Seton Hall enters the week with a 3-6-3 overall record. The Pirates are 0-1-2 in BIG EAST play after tying Villanova, 0-0 and falling to Georgetown 5-0. In their most recent match, Seton Hall tied St. John's, 2-2.
Senior Natalie Tavana leads Seton Hall with seven points on two goals and three assists. Tavana was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Sept. 30. Senior Chiara Pucci has tallied two goals for the Pirates this season. Freshman Olivia Beauvois has added four points on one goals and two assists on the season. Goalkeepers Anna Prawer and Avery Strohecker have split time in net for Seton Hall this year. Prawer has started all 12 games for the Pirates logging 540 minutes in net. The senior holds a 0.714 save percentage on 20 saves and eight goals allowed. Strohecker has appeared in 12 games logging 540 minutes in net for Seton Hall. The freshman holds a 0.735 save percentage on 25 saves and 9 goals allowed.
UP NEXT... The Friars will visit Creighton on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 2:00 p.m. (ET). The match will be played Morrison Stadium in Omaha, Neb.
