The Friars return to action on Sunday, Oct. 20 on the road versus No. 20 Xavier.


Providence, R.I. - The Providence College women's soccer team was defeated by the Georgetown Hoyas, 1-0, on Thursday, October 17 on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium in Providence, R.I. The Friars fell to 5-8-1 overall and 2-4-0 in BIG EAST play. Georgetown improved to 9-2-4 overall, and 5-1-1 in the BIG EAST.

GAME FLOW AND NOTES         
- Maja Lardner beat the goalkeeper on a breakaway goal early in the first half to give the Hoyas an early lead. Her goal was assisted by Eliza Turner.  
- Maria Paveglio (Lake Orion, Mich.) delivered a shot on goal with a minute left to play. Georgetown goalkeeper Anna Karpenko made an impressive save to seal the Hoyas' win.  
- Ellie Thallman (Northville. Mich.) recorded a second-half clean sheet behind the Friar defense.  
- Providence failed to score on four shots on goal.
