PHILADELPHIA, PA. – The Providence College field hockey team dropped a closely contested BIG EAST Conference match to 20
th-ranked Temple, 1-0, on Friday, Oct. 11 in Philadelphia, Pa. The Owls have won six-straight games and improved to 8-4 overall (3-1 BIG EAST). The Friars dropped to 5-8 on the season (1-3 BIG EAST).
GAME FLOW:
• The match was scoreless through the first two quarters and the two teams went to halftime tied, 0-0.

Asia Porter collected five saves in the first half.
• The Friars earned their first attacking penalty corner at 37:45 in the third quarter and
Macie Pennisi's dangerous feed to the right post was snuffed out by Temple's defense.
• Temple claimed a 1-0 lead with under two minutes to play in the third quarter. Alize Maes' initial shot was saved by Porter, but Mathea Lassalle collected the rebound and sent the ball high into the cage over an outstretched Porter.
• Providence responded on the offensive end with two penalty corner opportunities inside the final 45-seconds of the frame, but were unable to find the back of the cage.
• The Friars removed their goalkeeper in favor of an extra attacker with 1:41 remaining in regulation.
• The decision yielded four-straight penalty corners in the final 48.8-seconds of regulation, but the Owls' defense held Providence off the board.
NOTES / HIGHLIGHTS:
• Porter finished the day with six saves.
• Temple finished the game with the lead in shots (13-8) and shots on goal (7-3).
• In the second half, Providence led in shots (8-3) and corners (6-3).
• Both teams recorded six penalty corners overall in the match.
WHAT'S NEXT:
• The Providence College field hockey team returns to action on Friday, Oct. 18 against No. 7 Connecticut. The game will be played at Lennon Family Field in Providence, R.I. and is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. The match coincides with the College's annual Homecoming Weekend and also will serve as the program's Pink Out Friartown game.
