Field Hockey Set To Host No. 5 Connecticut In BIG EAST Action

The Friars welcome the Huskies to Lennon Family Field on Friday, Oct. 18 at 3:00 p.m.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College field hockey team will host No. 5 Connecticut in BIG EAST action on Friday, Oct. 18 at Lennon Family Field in Providence, R.I. The match-up will serve as the program's annual Pink Out Friartown game and also coincides with the College's Homecoming Weekend.

SCOUTING PROVIDENCE (5-8, 1-3 BIG EAST):
• The Friars enter the weekend with a 5-8 overall record, including a 1-3 mark in BIG EAST play. Four of the program's eight losses this season have come against nationally ranked opponents: No. 12 Michigan (8-1), No. 17 Boston College (3-1), No. 14 Liberty (2-1) and No. 20 Temple (1-0).
• Graduate student Ally DeCoste and sophomore Bo Martina lead the offense with 11 points each. DeCoste has recorded a team-high five goals and one assist. Martina has scored three goals and owns a team-best five assists.
• Sophomore Macie Pennisi is third on the team in points, with nine. She ranks second in goals (four) and has added one assist.
Asia Porter has played the majority of minutes in cage this season (774). She owns a 2.94 goals against average and a 0.578 save percentage.
• Providence is in the midst of a five-game winless streak.
• The Friars return home to Lennon Family Field for the first time since Sept. 27 when the squad fell to No. 14 Liberty, 2-1. Providence has played its last four games on the road.
• Ten players on the roster have scored at least one goal this season and ten players have registered at least one assist on the year.

SCOUTING CONNECTICUT (12-1, 4-0 BIG EAST):
• The Huskies enter Friday's match with a 12-1 overall record, including a 4-0 mark in BIG EAST play.
• UConn moved up to No. 5 in the NFHCA Division I Coaches' Poll on Oct. 15.
• The Huskies' lone loss this season came against No. 7 Harvard (3-2) in Cambridge, Mass. on Sept. 15. 
• UConn is in the midst of a seven-game win streak, during which time it has allowed just three goals and posted five shut-out victories.
• Six players on the roster have recorded double-digits in the points column, led by Sophie Perschk (28) and Juul Sauer (23). Perschk has 11 goals and six assists this season, while Sauer checks in with nine goals and five assists.
• Sol Simone is third on the team in scoring with 18 points. She has recorded five goals and a team-best eight assists.
• Natalie McKenna has played 727 minutes in the cage this season and owns a 1.16 goals against average and a 0.736 save percentage. She has recorded three individual shut-out victories and has three shared shutouts.
