Field Hockey Travels To Philadelphia To Face No. 20 Temple In BIG EAST Action

The Friars and Owls square off on Friday, Oct. 11 at 2:00 p.m. on Howarth Field.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College field hockey team will travel to Philadelphia, Pa. to face BIG EAST foe Temple on Friday, Oct. 11. The game will be played at Howarth Field and is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.

**The two teams have played annually since 2013 (12 games) and Providence holds a 7-5 record vs. the Owls during that span. Six of the 12 matches were decided in overtime, including three matches that went to a shootout. Providence is 4-2 in those matches.
 
SCOUTING PROVIDENCE (5-7, 1-2 BIG EAST):
• The Friars enter the weekend with a 5-7 overall record, including a 1-2 mark in BIG EAST play. Three of the program's seven losses this season have come against nationally ranked opponents: No. 12 Michigan (8-1), No. 17 Boston College (3-1) and No. 14 Liberty (2-1).
• Graduate student Ally DeCoste and sophomore Bo Martina lead the offense with 11 points each. DeCoste has recorded a team-high five goals and one assist. Martina has scored three goals and a team-best five assists.
• Sophomore Macie Pennisi is third on the team in points, with nine. She ranks second in goals (four) and has added one assist.
Asia Porter has played the majority of minutes in cage this season (716). She owns a 3.10 goals against average and a 0.554 save percentage.
• Providence is in the midst of a four-game winless streak, during which time it has been outscored 18-4.
• The Friars will be playing their fourth-consecutive road game, including its second-straight trip to Pennsylvania. In its most recent game, Providence fell to Lafayette, 2-1, in Easton, Pa. on Oct. 6.
• Ten players on the roster have scored at least one goal this season and ten players have registered at least one assist on the year.

• The Owls enter the match with a 7-4 overall record, including a 2-1 mark in the BIG EAST.
• Temple is on a five-game win streak, which includes three victories over nationally ranked teams.
• Temple moved into the most recent NFHCA Division I Coaches' Poll for the first time this season, ranked at No. 20.  
• Tess Muller and Peyton Rieger lead the offense with 13 points each. Both players have recorded five goals and three assists.
• Devin Kinzel is the top goal scorer for Temple (six) and ranks third in points (12).
• Alize Maes rounds out the list of players with double-figure point totals (11). She has registered four goals and three assists.
• Isabella Ospitale has played the majority of minutes in the cage for Temple (526). She owns a 1.03 goals against average and a 0.791 save percentage.
