PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College field hockey team welcomes a pair of non-conference opponents to Lennon Family Field this weekend as the team continues its six-game homestand. The Friars will open the weekend with New Hampshire on Friday, Sept. 8 at 4:00 p.m. On Sunday, Sept. 10, Providence will host cross-city rival Brown at 1:00 p.m.

SCOUTING PROVIDENCE COLLEGE (2-2):
• Providence enters the weekend with a 2-2 overall record, including a 2-0 mark at Lennon Family Field.
• After opening the season with a pair of losses on the road to No. 17 Boston College (3-0) and Maine (2-0), Providence returned home to defeat Bryant (1-0) and Long Island University (1-0).

Celia Preveza and
Lisa McNamara have scored the Friars' lone goals this season. Both goals were unassisted game winners.
•
Asia Porter has played all 240 minutes in the cage this season and has recorded a 1.25 goals against average and a 0.828 save percentage. Each of her victories this season have been shutouts.
• On Tuesday, Sept. 5, McNamara and Porter were named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for their performances last weekend against Bryant and LIU.
• Senior Eleonore de Keyser was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. De Keyser missed her first two seasons with an injury and returned in 2022 to start all 17 games as a central defender.

Ally DeCoste returns for her senior season after leading the team in scoring a year ago with 15 points on five goals and five assists. She scored 12 of her 15 points during BIG EAST Conference play (4g/4a).
• Porter played all 17 games in goal last season and registered a 2.59 goals against average and a 0.697 save percentage. She recorded two shut-out victories against Georgetown and Holy Cross.
• Providence finished the 2022 season with a 5-12 overall record and played nine of its 17 games on the road (2-7).
• This season, Providence will play 12 home games. The match-up against Bryant on Sept. 1 kicks off a six-game homestand and Providence will play 10 of its next 11 games at Lennon Family Field, overall.
• Providence was picked to finish fifth in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll.
• McNamara has returned for a fifth season as a graduate student, taking advantage of the extra year of eligibility granted to student-athletes because of the Covid-19 pandemic. She has played 59 games during her career, including 38 appearances in the starting line-up. McNamara has recorded 23 career points on five goals and 13 assists. She is 4-5 during her career in penalty-stroke opportunities.
• The Friars have added eight newcomers to the roster for the 2023 season.
• In May, the program announced its 2023 team captains:

SCOUTING UNIVERSITY OF NEW HAMPSHIRE (3-1):
• New Hampshire enters the weekend with a 3-1 overall record. The Wildcats' only loss this season came against Ohio State on Sept. 1. UNH has earned victories over Quinnipiac (4-3, OT), Michigan State (4-0) and Ball State (4-1).
• Tasmin Cookman leads the offense with nine points on four goals and one assist, while Nicole Poulakis checks in with eight points on three goals and two assists.
• Tamera Cookman and Kathelijne are tied for third in scoring with five points each, as both players have recorded two goals and one assist.
• Jemma Woods has played 237 minutes in goal for UNH and owns a 1.93 goals against average and a 0.733 save percentage. She collected six saves against Michigan State to record her first shutout victory of the season.
• UNH and Providence last met on Sept. 2, 2022 in Durham, N.H. The Wildcats posted a 3-1 victory, which snapped a three-game winless streak to the Friars.
SCOUTING BROWN UNIVERSITY (2-0):
• Brown enters the weekend with a 2-0 record and will face Northeastern on Friday, Sept. 8 before facing Providence College on Sunday afternoon.
• The Bears opened the season with victories over Long Island University (3-0) and Holy Cross (2-1, OT).
• Lindsey Ross leads Brown in scoring with three points on one goal and one assist.
• Lucy Adams, Imogen Govan, Zoe Lawrence and Lexi Pellegrino have each recorded one goal for Brown.
• Kylee Del Monte has played all 122 minutes in the cage for the Bears and owns a 0.49 goals against average and a 0.800 save percentage.
• In their most recent game against Holy Cross, the Bears tied the game (1-1) with 1:06 left in regulation to force overtime. Govan was credited with the game winning goal as she converted a penalty stroke opportunity just 2:04 into overtime. Overall, Brown held a 37-9 advantage in shot attempts vs. Holy Cross and a 15-8 edge in offensive corners.

• The Friars complete their six-game homestand next weekend with a pair of games against Quinnipiac and Stonehill. Providence and Quinnipiac open BIG EAST Conference action on Friday, Sept. 15 at 3:00 p.m. Stonehill comes to town on Sunday, Sept. 17 for a 1:00 p.m. start.
