PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College field hockey team fell to No. 9 Liberty, 5-2, in BIG EAST play on Friday, Sept. 22 in Lynchburg, Va. The Friars evened their record at 4-4 overall (0-2 BIG EAST), while Liberty improved to 8-1 (2-0 BIG EAST).
1ST QUARTER:
• Liberty jumped on the board early (1-0) with a tip-in on a corner. Lou Combrinck was credited with the goal off a feed from the top of the circle by Jodie Conolly.
• It marked the only shot attempt and only corner of the opening 15 minutes.
2ND QUARTER:
• The second quarter was scoreless and Liberty carried its 1-0 lead into halftime.
• The Flames outshot the Friars 1-0 in the second quarter. The lone shot didn't come until the final 22-seconds of play, and sailed high and wide off the stick of Anna Miller.
3RD QUARTER:
• Providence earned its first penalty corner of the game with 7:57 remaining in the third. It marked just the second corner of the game for either team.

Lisa McNamara cashed in on that opportunity for her team-best fourth goal of the season at 37:17 to tie the game, 1-1.
• Liberty answered quickly to regain the lead (37:54) as Ellie Livingston redirected the ball into the back of the cage off a feed from Kyleigh Faust.
• The Flames took a 3-1 lead at 39:10 as Tuti Dell Anna notched her third goal of the season, unassisted.
• Liberty held a 4-2 edge in shots and 2-1 advantage in offensive corners during the third quarter.
4TH QUARTER:
• The Flames wasted little time getting on the board in the fourth. Martu Cian connected for her second goal of the year just 1:02 into the action.

Florencia Talarico fired off a shot attempt at 51:29 and forced a defensive save by Pima Iturraspe.
• After an official review, the Friars were awarded a penalty stroke. McNamara converted the opportunity for her second goal of the day, cutting the deficit to 4-2.
• Combrinck answered for Liberty with her second goal of the day at 58:02. She was assisted by Milagros Arteta. Her tally put the Flames ahead, 5-2.
NOTES:
• McNamara recorded the first multi-goal game of her career and leads the team this season with five goals.

Asia Porter finished the day with five saves.
• Liberty's Azul Iritxity Irigoyen recorded two saves in goal for the Flames.
• The Flames led in shots (12-5), shots on goal (7-2) and corners (4-2).
