PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College field hockey team will conclude its five-game homestand this weekend with a pair of games at Lennon Family Field in Providence, R.I. The Friars open BIG EAST Conference play on Friday, Sept. 15 against Quinnipiac at 3:00 p.m. Providence closes the weekend with a non-conference match against Stonehill on Sunday, Sept. 17 at 1:00 p.m. Both games will be streamed live FloSports.

SCOUTING PROVIDENCE COLLEGE:
• Providence enters the weekend with a 3-2 overall record, including a 3-0 mark at Lennon Family Field.
• After opening the season with a pair of losses on the road to No. 17 Boston College (3-0) and Maine (2-0), Providence returned home to defeat Bryant (1-0), Long Island University (1-0) and New Hampshire (5-3).
• Providence's most recent game vs. Brown, scheduled for Sept. 10, was postponed due to weather.
• The Friars are in the midst of a five-game homestand, which will conclude this weekend against Quinnipiac and Stonehill.
• After a trip to face BIG EAST foe Liberty in Lynchburg, Va. on Sept. 22, Providence will return home to Lennon Family Field to play six of its next seven games.

Lisa McNamara and
Celia Preveza lead the Friars' offense with four points each. Both players have scored a team-best two goals.

Bella DelNegro and
Bo Martina are tied for third on the team in scoring, with three points each. They both recorded one goal and one assist in the Friars' 5-3 victory over New Hampshire on Sept. 8. It marked a career high for DelNegro in a single name and the first career points for Martina.
• DelNegro was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Sept. 12. She is the third player on the Friars' roster to earn weekly honors from the league this season, joining McNamara and
Asia Porter.
• Senior Eleonore de Keyser was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. De Keyser missed her first two seasons with an injury and returned in 2022 to start all 17 games as a central defender.
• De Keyser leads the Friars in assists through five games this season (two), marking the first points of her career. She registered both assists against UNH on Sept. 8.
• Porter has played all 300 minutes in goal for PC this season and owns a 1.60 goals against average and a 0.771 save percentage. Two of her three victories have been shutouts.
• Porter played all 17 games in goal last season and registered a 2.59 goals against average and a 0.697 save percentage. She recorded two shut-out victories against Georgetown and Holy Cross.

Ally DeCoste returns for her senior season after leading the team in scoring a year ago with 15 points on five goals and five assists. She scored 12 of her 15 points during BIG EAST Conference play (4g/4a).
• Providence finished the 2022 season with a 5-12 overall record and played nine of its 17 games on the road (2-7).
• Providence was picked to finish fifth in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll.
• McNamara has returned for a fifth season as a graduate student, taking advantage of the extra year of eligibility granted to student-athletes because of the Covid-19 pandemic. She has played 64 games during her career, including 43 appearances in the starting line-up. McNamara has recorded 27 career points on seven goals and 13 assists. She is 4-6 during her career in penalty-stroke opportunities.
• The Friars have added eight newcomers to the roster for the 2023 season. Four of those eight have seen time in the starting line-up.
• In May, the program announced its 2023 team captains:

SCOUTING QUINNIPIAC UNIVERSITY (2-2):
• Quinnipiac enters the weekend with a 2-2 overall record and is in the midst of a two-game win streak.
• The Bobcats beat Bryant, 4-1, in their most recent game on Sept. 13. Lucia Pompeo netted two goals in the effort, including Quinnipiac's final goal of the afternoon at 57:56 after Bryant pulled their goalkeeper in favor of an extra attacker. The goals marked Pompeo's first points of the season.
• Stella Tegtmeier leads the offense with nine points on two goals and five assists.
• Emilia Massarelli is second on the team in points (seven) and leads the Bobcats with three goals.
• Six different players on the roster have scored at least one goal through four games.

Sophia Pompeo spent the previous four seasons with the Friars before transferring to Quinnipiac to join her sister [Lucia] compete as a graduate student. At Providence, Pompeo played 64 career games with 45 appearances in the starting line-up. She recorded 29 points on 13 goals and three assists and completed her undergraduate degree in May 2023.
• In goal, Cristina Torres has played 250 minutes and has logged a 1.92 goals against average and a 0.771 save percentage.
• Assistant Coach Madison Skeie played for the Friars from 2016-2019 as a defender. She appeared in 33 games with five starts.
• Last season, Quinnipiac stunned the Friars in Hamden, Conn. by a score of 4-2. Providence took a 2-0 lead through the first 19 minutes of action, but Quinnipiac scored four-unanswered goals in the final 13 minutes of regulation to take the win.
SCOUTING STONEHILL COLLEGE (0-5):
• The Skyhawks enter the weekend with an 0-5 record and will face Bryant on Friday, Sept. 15 before making their way to Lennon Family Field to face Providence on Sunday.
• Three different players have scored a goal for the Skyhawks. Claudia Crowe and Raegan Hickey lead the team with three points each (1g / 1a). Lacy Moran is third on the team in points (two), having scored one goal.
• Stonehill is averaging 6.4 shots per game this season. Of their 32 total shot attempts, 24 have been on goal (.750).
• Hickey (eight), Morgan (four) and Julieta D'Antonio (four) have combined to attempt 16 of Stonehill's 32 shots.
• Shannon Conte has played 310 minutes in the cage and owns a 4.65 goals against average and a 0.676 save percentage.

• The Friars will return to action on Friday, Sept. 22 against BIG EAST foe Liberty. The match is slated for 12:00 p.m. in Lynchburg, Va. The Flames are currently ranked 10
th in the NFHCA Division I National Coaches' Poll. Providence returns home to host Merrimack on Sunday, Sept. 24 at 1:00 p.m.
