PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's and women's track and field teams open their seasons at the Raleigh Relays on March 23-25. The meet will be held at the Paul Derr Track in Raleigh, N.C. The event is the first opportunity for the Friars to post qualifying times for the opening round of the NCAA Championship in Jacksonville, Fla.

On the men's side,
Zane Powell (Auckland, New Zealand) will run in the 1,500 meters and
Josh Lewin (West Chester, Pa.) will race in the 800 meters. DJ Principe (Johnston, R.I.) along with
Abdel Laadjel (Lucan, Ireland) will race for the Friars in the 5,000 meters. Patrick Thygesen (Brisbane, Australia) will compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Shane Coffey (Naas, Ireland),
David McGlynn (Waterford, Ireland) and
Marcelo Rocha (Peabody, Mass.) round out the top runners for the Friars and will compete in the 10,000 meters.
Headlining the Friar women will be
Lilly Tuck (Sunderland, Canada) and
Orla O'Connor (Waterford, Ireland) in the 10,000 meters, along with
Jane Buckley (Cork, Ireland) in the 5,000 meters. Buckley returns to competition after redshirting the indoor track season.
Shannon Flockhart (Longstanton, England) and
Kimberley May (Auckland, New Zealand) will compete in the 1,500 meters.
Halle Atkinson (Franklin, Mass.) and
Alex O'Neill (Ennis, Ireland) will run the 800 meters.
