NOTES

- The teams skated through an opening 20 minutes of scoreless hockey. The Wildcats held a 9-5 advantage in shots after one period.

- Svedebäck highlighted the period with a point-blank glove save on UNH's Nick Ring midway through the period.

- With UNH's Alex Gagne in the box late in the second period, Valente one-timed a feed from Austen May that deflected off a Wildcat defenseman and past Hellsten to put Providence up 1-0.

- Tanner Adams nearly extended the Providence lead in the third period on a 2-on-1 down low with Chase Yoder but his bid rang off the crossbar and out.

- The Wildcats tied the game at 1-1 at 13:53 of the third period on Morgan Winters' shorthanded breakaway goal.

- In overtime, Cam McDonald nearly gave Providence the win but his attempt at the post was gloved by Hellsten.

- The Wildcats couldn't convert on their first four shootout attempts and that left Valente to secure the extra point as he beat Hellsten low to the blocker side.

- Providence extends its unbeaten streak to six games (4-0-2).

- The Friars penalty kill has killed off 27-consecutive opponent power plays going back to the Denver game on Oct. 20.
