PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College field hockey team was defeated by Lafayette, 3-1, on Sunday, Oct. 15 at Lennon Family Field in Providence, R.I. The Friars dropped to 8-6 on the season, while the Leopards improved to 8-5.
1ST QUARTER:
• The game was scoreless (0-0) through the opening 15 minutes of play.
• Lafayette outshot Providence, 2-1, and the Friars held a 1-0 edge in penalty corners.
•
Asia Porter made one save in the first quarter, with two-seconds left in the frame.
2ND QUARTER:
• Lafayette took a 1-0 lead 1:20 into the second quarter. Alex Darrah was credited with the goal as she deflected a crossing pass from Lineke Spaans into the back of the cage at the left post.
• The Leopards outshot the Friars 3-2 in the quarter and each team came away with one penalty corner.
• Lafayette carried its 1-0 lead into halftime.
3RD QUARTER:
• Providence's
Ally DeCoste scored her fifth goal of the season at the 42:02 mark to tie the score, 1-1.

Bella DelNegro earned the assist on the play as she found DeCoste in the middle of the circle.
• Lafayette responded less than two minutes later (43:38) to regain the lead, 2-1.
• Darrah scored her second goal of the day, off a redirection at the right post, assisted by Spaans.
• The Friars held a 6-2 edge in shots during the period and a 5-1 advantage in offensive corners.
4TH QUARTER:
• The Friars elected to pull their goalkeeper in favor of an extra attacker with under three minutes to play. However, Providence was assessed a yellow card shortly after and the advantage was negated.
• The Leopards added an insurance goal with the cage vacant at 58:08. Spaans scored the goal, unassisted, on an empty cage.
• Lafayette outshot Providence 3-0 in the quarter and held a 2-0 edge in corners.
NOTES:
• For the game, the Leopards led in shots (10-9), while the Friars recorded a 7-4 advantage in offensive corners.

Asia Porter recorded four saves in goal for Providence.
• Lafayette's Emma Garvey also recorded four saves on the day.
• Prior to the game, the Friars held a ceremony honoring its six seniors and one graduate student. The honorees included
