Providence, R.I. - Providence College volleyball was defeated by Xavier in three sets on Saturday, October 14 in Providence, R.I.
 
FIRST SET HIGHLIGHTS: Xavier won the first set, 25-17.
- The Musketeers got off to a 7-1 lead to start the first set causing a Friars timeout.  
- Xavier extended their lead to 16-8 in the middle of the set. 
- The Musketeers closed out the set winning, 25-17.
- Miller McDonald (Dallas, Texas) recorded nine assists in the first set.
 
SECOND SET HIGHLIGHTS: The Musketeers took the second set, 31-29, for the 2-0 edge in the match.
- The Friars took a quick 6-3 lead to start the second set.
- Xavier went on a 9-1 run to take the 12-7 lead. 
- Providence went on a 7-4 run to cut the score to 16-14.
- The Friars tied the set at 23-23 forcing a Musketeers timeout. 
- The Musketeers closed out the set winning, 31-29.
- Shaliyah Rhoden (Rowlett, Texas) registered seven kills in the second set.
 
THIRD SET HIGHLIGHTS: Xavier won the third set,
- The Friars got off to a 5-2 lead in the third set. 
- Providence extended their lead to 10-5 causing Xavier to call a timeout.
- Xavier went on an 8-2 run to take the 13-12 lead. 
- The Musketeers held onto the lead winning, 25-23.
-Shea Dupuis (Richardson, Texas) had four kills in the third set.
 
MATCH NOTES:
- Rhoden led the Friars' offense with eight kills.
- Jiji Lykins (Coral Springs, Fla.) had a team-high 16 digs.
- McDonald recorded 30 assists.

Providence 8-12 (2-6) | Xavier 13-6 (6-2)
WHATS NEXT:
Next week the Friars travel to Storrs, Conn. on Wednesday, October 18 to face UCONN at 6 p.m. Later that week they host Creighton on Saturday, October 21 at 4:00 p.m.
