PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Hockey Commissioners Association (HCA) announced on Tuesday (Feb. 22) the 11 goaltenders selected as semifinalists for the Mike Richter Award, given annually to the top goaltender in Division I men's hockey. Providence College goaltender
Jaxson Stauber (Plymouth, Minn.) was named as a semifinalist for the award for the second-consecutive season.
Eleven goaltenders were singled out from a "Watch List" of 35 by a panel of voters from across the hockey community. Three finalists will be announced in mid-March and the winner of this year's Mike Richter Award will be announced in April during the NCAA Frozen Four in Boston. Stauber is one of three returning semifinalists from the 2020-21 season.
Stauber, who was also a Walter Brown Award semifinalist for the second-consecutive season, has posted a 18-13-2 record with a 2.11 GAA and .924 save percentage over 33 games this year. Stauber ranks in the top-15 among NCAA goaltenders in wins, goals-against average, save percentage, minutes played (1963:50), total saves (840) and shutouts (4).
