NEW YORK, N.Y. – Providence College women's soccer players sophomore
Meg Hughes (Rochester, Mass.) and sophomore
Emma Bodmer (Monroe Township, N.J.) earned BIG EAST Weekly Awards following their performances last week against Stony Brook and Monmouth. The Friars went 2-0-0 on the week, defeating Stony Brook, 4-0, on Sept. 2 and then earned their first road win at Monmouth (3-1) on Sept. 5.

Hughes, who was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, led the BIG EAST in scoring with seven points off three goals and an assist. She notched a goal and an assist in the Friars' win against Stony Brook and then scored two goals in a 3-1 win at Monmouth. With seven points on the week, Hughes became one of the College's all-time scoring leaders as she ranks 26th with 26 points. She has accomplished this feat in just her 17
th game. Last spring, Hughes was the BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and then was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team this season.

Bodmer was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. She went 2-0-0 with a shared shutout and three saves on Chapey Field against Stony Brook and then had one stop at Monmouth.

The Friars will return to action on Thursday, Sept. 9 against Boston University at 6 p.m. on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium.
