PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's soccer team will host Stony Brook University on Thursday, Sept. 2 at 4 p.m. before traveling to Monmouth University on Sunday, Sept. 5. Providence posted a 1-1 record on the week after defeating Sacred Heart on Aug. 25 (4-0) and falling on the road to Rutgers on Aug. 29 (5-1).

Friars Fall To No. 22 Rutgers… The Friars traveled to Piscataway, N.J. to take on the the Scarlet Knights before falling 5-1. Rutgers scored two early goals inside the first seven minutes of the game to take a 2-0 advantage. After allowing two early goals, sophomore

Series History Against Stony Brook… The Friars hold a 2-0-1 overall record against the Seawolves. In their last meeting on Sept. 13, 2009, Providence beat Stony Brook 3-2 in overtime.
Scouting The Seawolves… Stony Brook enters Thursday with a 1-1-1 overall record and are coming off a 1-0 win against Columbia. The Seawolves were selected as the preseason favorite in the 2021 America East Coaches' Poll. Stony Brook returns all five All-Conference selections from last season with two first-teamers Alyssa Francese and Chelsie DePonte.
Series History Against Monmouth… This marks the first time that the Friars play Monmouth in 25 years. Providence holds a 2-5-1 overall record against the Hawks. On Sept. 22 1996, the Friars fell to the Hawks 5-0.
Scouting The Hawks… The Hawks begin the 2021 season with a perfect record (4-0) and will face No. 22 Rutgers (Sept. 3) before playing Providence on Sept 5. Monmouth was awarded the top spot in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Preseason Poll. The Hawks had three players named to the Preseason All-MAAC Team: Sarina Jones, Jill Conklin and Lauren Karabin.
Friars Picked Fourth in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll… The BIG EAST Conference announced its Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll on Thursday, August 12. The Friars were picked to finish fourth in the BIG EAST behind Georgetown, Butler and UConn.
Hughes was the lone Friar to receive preseason recognition as a member of the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. Last season, Hughes played in all 12 games for the Friars and appeared in the starting lineup four times. She led Providence in points (14), assists (six) and was tied for first on the team in goals (four). At the conclusion of the season, she was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST Second Team and BIG EAST All-Freshman Team.
