PROVIDENCE, R.I.-Â The Providence College volleyball team will travel to Kingston, R.I. to take on the University of Rhode Island Rams on August 31 at 5:00 p.m. Last season, the Friars defeated the Rams in four sets at home.

SCOUTING THE FRIARS:Â The Friars enter the match with a record of 2-1 after opening the season at the 2021 Army Invitational. In the tournament, Providence defeated Merrimack (3-0) and Iona (3-1) and fell to Army (1-3).Â
Allison Barber (Woodbury, Minn.) and
Shaliyah Rhoden (Rowlett, Texas) earned All-Tournament honors.

Barber leads the Friars with 115 assists and ranks second for the Friars with digs (36).

Rhoden leads Providence in kills (39) and holds a .326 hitting percentage. Rhoden is followed by
Emma Nelson (West Chester, Pa.) and
Maryanne Boyle (Blacklick, Ohio), who have recorded 23 and 22 kills, respectively.

Mackenzie Taylor (Holbrook, N.Y.) leads the team defensively, with 44 digs.

SCOUTING THE RAMS:Â URI enters the match 2-1 after their opening weekend at the Art Carmichael Invitational. The Rams defeated Quinnipiac and Holy Cross and lost to Bryant.

Junior Claire Wagner has made an immediate impact for the Rams. Thus far, she ranks first on the team in kills (32) and total points (34.5), and second in digs (34).

Freshman Grace Hammond holds a team-high 53 assists.

WHAT'S NEXT:Â The Friars will travel to Durham, N.H. for the Holly Young Tournament on September 3-4. Providence will play two matches on Friday, September 3 against Siena College (12:30 p.m.) and Fairleigh Dickinson University (3:30 p.m.), before playing host school, University of New Hampshire, on Saturday, September 4 (2:00 p.m.).
