Daniela Alvarez Earns All-BIG EAST Second Team Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Daniela Alvarez (Santa Ana, Calif.) of the Providence College softball team earned All-BIG EAST Second Team honors, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday, May 12.
Alvarez, the Friars' lead pitcher in the circle, has appeared in 12 games with 11 starts this season. She carries a 4-6 record with a 2.62 ERA. She has struck out 48 batters over a team-high 58.2 innings pitched, while holding opposing hitters to a .223 batting average. In previous seasons, she has earned BIG EAST Co-Freshman of the Year and All-BIG EAST First Team Honors with multiple BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week recognitions. This season, Alvarez was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll twice (May 10, Apr. 26).
