PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brendan McSorley (Randolph, N.J.) of the Providence men's soccer team was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on Monday, March 22. This marked McSorley's first-time receiving league recognition.
McSorley helped the Friars defeat BIG EAST foe Villanova, 2-0, on Saturday, March 20. The rookie scored both goals in the victory. His first goal came in the first 25 seconds of actions off a cross from
Christopher Roman (Glastonbury, Conn.). This marked the forward's first career goal. In the 48
th minute he scored the insurance goal for his second goal of the evening.
The Friars are third in the East Division standings at 3-2-1 and have a 4-2-1 overall record. Up next, Providence takes on the No. 3 Georgetown Hoyas on Saturday, March 27 on Shaw Field in Washington, D.C. The match is set for kick-off at 12:00 p.m. and is televised on FS1.
