PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College field hockey team fell to Quinnipiac, 2-0, on March 21 at Lennon Family Field in Providence, R.I.

FIRST QUARTER:
• The Friars were the only team to record a shot in the first quarter as
Maddie Babineau put an attempt on target during a penalty corner opportunity.
• The game remained scoreless after 15 minutes of action.

SECOND QUARTER:
• The Friars dominated the second quarter as, outshooting the Bobcats, 8-0, and holding a 9-0 edge in penalty corners.
• However, Providence only managed to put two of its eight shots on cage.
• At the half, the game remained scoreless (0-0).Â
• The Friars held a 9-0 advantage in shots (4-0 SOG) and a 10-0 edge in offensive corners.

THIRD QUARTER:
• Providence turned the ball over deep in its defensive end and the Bobcats drew their first offensive corner of the game.
• After an initial shot that was blocked in front of the goalkeeper, Jess Halley collected the loose ball on the left side of the cage and scored in the upper right of the net.
• The Friars committed another costly turnover in the backfield, which resulted in the Bobcats' second penalty corners of the game.
• Quinnipiac scored on the resulting corner, Halley converted a direct shot off an insert by Amanda Funaro. Halley's shot was deflected by a Providence defender.
• The Bobcats held a 2-0 advantage on the scoreboard entering the final 15 minutes of play.

FOURTH QUARTER:
• Providence outshot the Bobcats 4-0 in the fourth quarter, but were unable to find the back of the cage.

Niamh Gowing registered three of the Friars' four shots.
•
Marlies Kool also recorded a shot in the fourth.

NOTES / HIGHLIGHTS:
• Providence held a decisive advantage in shots (16-3), shots on goal (8-2) and penalty corners (13-2).
• Freshman
Asia Porter made her collegiate debut in goal for the Friars.
• Today's game between Providence and Quinnipiac marked the second of four scheduled meetings.
