Volleyball Falls To Georgetown In Four Sets

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College volleyball team fell to Georgetown in four sets. The Friars claimed the first set, 25-19, before the Hoyas took the remaining three (25-6, 25-13, 25-19). Providence falls to 15-14 (3-13 BIG EAST).
1st SET:
•The first set saw eight ties before Providence took the set, 25-19, with help from a late 5-1 run.
• Jennifer Leitman led the Friars with six kills.
• Allison Barber registered a set-high 12 assists.
• Caroline LaMacchia led Providence defensively with five digs.
2nd SET:
• After an early 1-1 tie, Georgetown led for the remained of the set, closing things out at 25-6.
• Mackenzie Taylor tallied a team-high six digs.
• Georgetown held Providence to a -.216 hitting percentage.
3rd SET:
• Georgetown took the third set, 25-13.
• Shaliyah Rhoden recorded a team-high three kills on seven total attacks for a .286 hitting percentage.
• Barber tallied six assists and three digs.
4th SET:
• The Hoyas closed out the match, 25-19, while holding the lead for the entirety of the set.
• Brielle Mullally and Rhoden tallied three kills apiece in the final set.
• Barber recorded all eight assists for the Friars along with two digs.
NOTES/ HIGHLIGHTS:
• Barber tallied 28 assists and seven digs for the Friars.
• Rhoden recorded a team-high nine kills on 35 attempts.
• Taylor was the only Friar to record double-digit digs (11).
• As a team, the Friars had 31 kills on 129 total attacks, 48 digs, 29 assists and 11 total team blocks.
WHAT'S NEXT: Providence returns to Alumni Hall to take on St. John's and Seton Hall in their final weekend of BIG EAST regular season play. The Friars will face the Red Storm on Friday, Nov. 19 at 6:00 p.m. before hosting the Pirates on Sunday, Nov. 21 for a 1:00 p.m. match.
