Volleyball Heads To Georgetown and Villanova For Weekend Matches

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College Friars will travel to Villanova and Georgetown this weekend for a pair of BIG EAST road matches. The Friars will take on the Wildcats on Friday, November 12th at 7:00 p.m. and the Hoyas on Saturday, November 13th at 2:30 p.m. Earlier this season, the Friars won against both Georgetown and Villanova in three sets.
 
SCOUTING THE FRIARS
The Friars enter the weekend with an overall record of 15-12, and a conference record of 3-11. 
 
Sophomore Maryanne Boyle holds the highest hitting percentage for the Friars and ranks ninth in the BIG EAST (.296). 
 
Freshman Shaliyah Rhoden leads the Friars offensively, having tallied 314 kills over the season. Rhoden is ranked seventh in the BIG EAST in kills per set (3.31).
 
Allison Barber has tallied 880 assists over the season and is ranked third in the BIG EAST in assists per set (9.72).
 
SCOUTING THE HOYAS
The Georgetown Hoyas enter the matchup with a 6-19 overall record and 2-12 conference record. 
 
Mary Grace Goyena has tallied 245 kills so far this season and ranks 17th in the BIG EAST in kills per set (2.63).
 
Emma Plutnicki leads the Hoyas offense in assists per set (7.26)
 
Kelly Chen is ranked seventh in BIG EAST for service aces (24), averaging 0.35 per set.
 
The Hoyas Jessica Cusi leads defense in digs (415) averaging 4.41 per set, ranking fourth in the BIG EAST.
 
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
The Wildcats enter to weekend with a 14-12 overall record and a 6-8 mark in the BIG EAST.
 
Riley Homer leads the Wildcat offense in kills (326) and an average of 3.49 kills per set, which ranks sixth in the BIG EAST.
 
Belle Morgan is ranked 2nd in BIG EAST for assists. Morgan holds a 9.95 assist per set average, and has tallied 755 over the season.
 
Averi Salvador ranks sixth in the BIG EAST in digs per set (4.20) and has tallied 382 over the season. She also leads the Wildcats in services aces, averaging 0.32 per set.
  
WHAT'S NEXT: The Friars return home for their final regular-season home matches. Providence takes on St. John's on Friday, Nov. 19 at 6:00 p.m. and Seton Hall on Sunday, Nov. 21 at 1:00 p.m.
