PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College field hockey team fell to BIG EAST foe Temple, 1-0, on Oct. 8 at Lennon Family Field in Providence, R.I.
1ST QUARTER:
• It was a scoreless tie through the first 15 minutes of action.
• Temple attempted the only shot in the quarter with 29-seconds left on the clock, but it was turned away by
Asia Porter (Somerset, Mass.).
2ND QUARTER:
• Grace Angelella gave Temple a 1-0 lead at 17:54 as she tipped in a feed from the top of the circle on a penalty corner. Kerrie Lorenz was credited with the assist.
• At the half, Temple held the advantage in shots (3-1) and corners (2-1).
3RD QUARTER:
• The Owls maintained their one-goal lead in the game, while out-shooting Providence 2-1 in the third quarter.
4TH QUARTER:
• Providence held a 2-0 edge in shots during the fourth, but were unable to find the equalizer.
• The Friars pulled their goalkeeper in favor of an extra attacker with 2:22 to play in regulation.
NOTES / HIGHLIGHTS:
• For the game, Temple held a slim edge in shots, (5-4), while each team completed the day with two corners (2-2).
• Porter finished the game with one save for the Friars.
• Temple goalkeeper Megan Ragusa also collected one save on the day, while her teammate Nienke Oerlemans picked up a defensive save in the second half.
WHAT'S NEXT:
• The Friars will return to action on Friday, Oct. 15 against BIG EAST opponent Old Dominion. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. on Lennon Family Field in Providence, R.I.
