PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College field hockey team fell to No. 18 Old Dominion, 2-1, on Friday, Oct. 15 in Providence, R.I.
1ST QUARTER:
• Providence outshot Old Dominion by a 3-2 margin in the first quarter.
• The teams were tied 1-1 in shots on goal, forcing each goalkeeper to make one save.
• The game was tied 0-0 after the first 15 minutes of action.
2ND QUARTER:
• ODU took a 1-0 lead, which held up into halftime.
• Nicole Fredericks was credited with the goal off a direct shot on a penalty corner at 21:31, assisted by Alice DeMars and Frederique Zandbergen.
• At the half, the Friars led in shots (6-4) and penalty corners (3-1)
3RD QUARTER:
• The Monarchs maintained their one-goal advantage through the third quarter.
• The Friars led in shots (4-3) and corners during the frame (2-1).
4TH QUARTER:
• ODU tacked on an insurance goal as Illse Westera tipped in a feed from Marlee McClendon during a penalty corner.
• With 4:41 left in regulation, the Friars pulled
Asia Porter from the cage in favor of the extra attacker.
• The Friars scored their lone goal of the game with no time left on the clock during a penalty corner.

Amanda Collins scored the goal and was assisted by
Nora Goddard-Despot.
NOTES / HIGHLIGHTS:
• The Friars finished the game with a 14-10 edge in shots and a 6-4 advantage in penalty corners.
• Porter made five saves in the game for the Friars.
• Cam MacGillivray recorded six saves for Old Dominion.

• The Friars will return to action on Sunday, Oct. 17 against cross-city rival Brown. The match is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. and will be broadcast live on FloSports.
