PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's soccer team will travel to Villanova, Pa. to play the Villanova Wildcats on Thursday, Oct. 7 at 3 p.m. The Friars enter the match 6-3-2 overall, including a 1-1-1 mark in BIG EAST play. On Sunday, Oct. 3, Providence earned a 1-1 draw versus No. 23 Georgetown in a double overtime battle.

Friars Tie No. 23 Georgetown In First BIG EAST Road Game... Providence tied No. 23 Georgetown, 1-1, on Sunday, Oct. 3 in Washington, D.C. in double overtime. Freshman
Gillian Kenney (Hanover, Mass.) scored the lone goal for the Friars in the 70
th minute to even the score at one a piece. Sophomore
Emma Bodmer (Monroe Township, N.J.) made a critical save in the final minute of the first overtime to lead the Friars and Hoyas into a second overtime. This marked the third game in a row that Providence has gone into overtime, each being a BIG EAST match-up.
Kenney Named To The BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll... Freshman
Gillian Kenney was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday, Oct. 4. The freshman scored the game-tying goal against No. 23 Georgetown in a 1-1 double overtime result on Sunday, Oct. 3.
Kenney is now the second leading scorer for Providence this season with 11 points on four goals and three assists. She ranks in the top-10 in three different statistical categories in the BIG EAST. Kenney ranks ninth in total points (11) and ninth in points per game (1.00). She also is tied for fifth in goals (4).
Series History Against Villanova... The Friars hold a 15-13-2 overall record against the Wildcats, winning eight out their last 10 match-ups. Last season, Providence went 2-0-0 against Villanova. In their first meeting on March 14, the Friars won 4-0 in Providence, R.I. On April 5, Providence won 2-1 at Villanova.
Scouting The Wildcats... Villanova enters the match with a 6-6-0 overall record, including a 0-4-0 record in BIG EAST play. The Wildcats are coming off a 3-2 loss to DePaul on Sunday, Oct. 3. Villanova was picked to finish 10
th in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll. Senior Chloe O'Neill leads the Wildcats this season with 19 points on seven goals and five assists.
Friars Picked Fourth in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll… The BIG EAST Conference announced its Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll on Thursday, August 12. The Friars were picked to finish fourth in the BIG EAST behind Georgetown, Butler and UConn.
Hughes was the lone Friar to receive preseason recognition as a member of the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. Last season, Hughes played in all 12 games for the Friars and appeared in the starting lineup four times. She led Providence in points (14), assists (six) and was tied for first on the team in goals (four). At the conclusion of the season, she was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST Second Team and BIG EAST All-Freshman Team.
