Women’s Soccer Blanks Seton Hall In Regular Season Finale

Friars clinch a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament field.


PROVIDENCE, R.I. – 
The Providence College women's soccer team beat Seton Hall, 2-0, on Thursday, Oct. 28 on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium. Junior Angie Suaza (Nashua, N.H.) gave the Friars a 1-0 advantage, scoring off a penalty kick with 4:18 left in the first half. Sophomore Meg Hughes (Rochester, Mass.) added an insurance goal in the 58th minute. Sophomore goalkeeper Emma Bodmer (Monroe Township, N.J.) earned her sixth shutout of the season with one save. The Friars' victory sealed a spot in the upcoming BIG EAST Women's Soccer Tournament. A full tournament bracket will be released by the league office, following the conclusion of all remaining regular-season matches.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
-Suaza converted on a penalty kick giving the Friars a 1-0 advantage in the 42nd minute. 
-The Friars did not allow Seton Hall to get a shot off in the first half.
-Providence possessed the ball in their offensive end for 61% of the first half, taking 21 shots. 
-In the 58th minute, Hughes gave the Friars a 2-0 lead off a pass from freshman Gillian Kenney (Hanover, Mass.) 
-The Friars ended the match out shooting the Pirates 30-5, including 15-1 shots on goal. 
-Seton Hall goalkeeper Grace Gordon made 13 saves. 
-Bodmer earned her sixth shutout this season with one save.
