PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College volleyball team defeated the Georgetown Hoyas in straight sets, 3-0 (25-10, 25-23, 25- … ) during a BIG EAST regular-season match up on Oct. 24 in Providence, R.I.
1st SET:
• Providence led the entirety of the first set, 17-9, before going on a 7-1 run to take the first set, 25-10.

Shaliyah Rhoden (Rowlett, Texas) and
Emma Nelson (West Chester, Pa.) paced the Friars with four kills each, hitting .667 and .571, respectively.
•
Allison Barber (Woodbury, Minn.) tallied a set-high 12 assists.
•
Mackenzie Taylor (Holbrook, N.Y.) and
Caroline LaMacchia contributed four digs each.
• The Friars held the Hoyas to a -.027 hitting percentage in the first set.
2nd SET:
• The Hoyas put up a fight in the second set, trailing by just one point, 23-24, before the Friars took the set, 25-23.
• Rhoden and Nelson both led the Friars with fours kills in the second set.
• Taylor paced the Friars in digs, with four.
• Barber put up 10 assists in the second set.
3rd SET:
• The Hoyas jumped to an early 4-1 before the Friars retaliated to grab a 10-8 lead mid-set. The Friars held the lead for the remainder of the set, winning the third 25-18.
• Rhoden registered a set-high five kills.
• Barber tallied all 10 assists for the Friars.
• LaMacchia recorded four digs.
NOTES / HIGHLIGHTS:
• Rhoden led the Friars with 13 kills in the match off of 26 attempts at the net (.385).
• Barber recorded 32 assists and added five digs and four kills.
• Taylor finished the night with 13 digs and also contributed two assists.
• Providence registered four total team blocks.
• The Friars held the Hoyas to a .090 team hitting percentage.
WHAT'S NEXT:
• Providence hits the road next week for two BIG EAST matches against DePaul University and Marquette University. The Friars face the Blue Demons on Friday, Oct. 29 at 8:00 p.m. before facing off against the Golden Eagles on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 6:00 p.m.
