PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The No. 16 Providence College men's soccer team will host BIG EAST foe Connecticut on Saturday, Oct. 23 on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium in Providence, R.I. Kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m. and the match will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) via FloSports.

All-Time Series Notes
• Providence and Connecticut will meet for the 45
th time in the history of the two men's soccer programs.
• UConn leads the all-time series, 34-8-2.
• The all-time series began in 1973 and Connecticut earned victories in each of the first eight games before the Friars got their first win during the 1984 campaign (a 1-0 victory in Storrs, Conn.).
• Providence has earned wins in each of the last two meetings – both of which were played in Storrs, Conn. The Friars defeated the Huskies, 2-0, during the 2021 spring season before their second scheduled match was canceled due to COVID-19 related issues. Providence also claimed a 2-1 win in overtime during the 2019 campaign.
• Connecticut last defeated Providence in 2017; a 1-0 win in Storrs, Conn.
Scouting Providence
• The Friars enter the weekend with an 8-2-3 overall record, including a 4-1-2 mark in the BIG EAST Conference.
• Providence currently ranks second in the BIG EAST standings (14 points), with four league games remaining on the regular-season schedule, including Saturday's match with UConn.
• The Friars moved up four spots from No. 20 to No. 16 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll.
• Providence has been inside the top-25 of the United Soccer Coaches Poll for five-consecutive weeks.
• Providence is unbeaten at home on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium (5-0-1).
• Providence fell to Butler, 2-1, in its most recent game on Oct. 16.
• Prior to their loss at Butler (Oct. 16), the Friars were in the midst of an eight-game unbeaten streak, during which they posted a 5-0-3 record.
• Both of the Friars' losses this season have come on the road. In addition to its most recent loss at Butler, Providence fell to New Hampshire, 2-1, in Durham, N.H. on Sept. 3.
• In their last game at Anderson Stadium, the Friars defeated top-ranked and previously unbeaten Georgetown, 3-0, on Oct. 13.
• It marked Providence's first victory over Georgetown since Oct. 15, 2014 when it defeated the Hoyas, 2-0, in Washington, D.C.

Luis Garcia recorded a career-high five points vs. Georgetown on two goals and one assist. It marked his second multi-goal game of the season, having also tallied two goals in the season opener vs. Forham (Aug. 26).
Potent Offense
• The Friars have the No. 1 ranked scoring offense in the BIG EAST Conference and they rank 16
th in NCAA Division I with an average of 2.38 goals per game.
• Providence also leads the league in total assists (31) and ranks 16
th in the nation. Additionally, Friars lead the league in total goals (31) and rank 13
th in NCAA Division I. The Friars also pace the conference in total points (93) and rank 15
th in the nation.
• Thirteen players on the Friars' roster have scored at least one goal through 13 games. Eight of those 13 players have scored two-or-more goals this season.

• Providence has scored 22 of its 31 goals this season during the second half
Players to Watch

Brendan McSorley leads the Friars in points (13) and goals scored (six), while also adding one assist.

Luis Garcia is second on the team in scoring with 12 points on four goals and four assists. His four assists are tied for the team lead with
Gevork Diarbian and Simon Triantafilou.

Paulo Lima rounds out the list of players with double-digit points, ranking third on the team in scoring (14 points) with four goals and two assists.
• Lima leads the Friars in scoring during conference play with eight points on three goals and two assists.
• Garcia is tied for second on the team in scoring during BIG EAST play, with seven points on two goals and three assists. He shares that spot with
Davis Smith, who also owns seven points on two goals and three assists during conference action.

Lukas Burns has played 1,216 minutes in goal for the Friars. He owns a 0.96 goals against average and a 0.755 save percentage.
• Burns has been the goalkeeper of record in each of Providence's 13 games and has recorded four shut-out victories overall, including two in BIG EAST play vs. Georgetown (3-0) and St. John's (1-0, 2OT).
Friars Against Ranked Opponents
• Providence has earned a 3-1-0 record vs. nationally ranked opponents. The Friars' only loss vs. ranked foes came against then-No. 14 New Hampshire, 2-1, on Sept. 18.
Friars in Overtime
• Providence has posted a 1-0-3 record this season in overtime, including a 1-0-2 mark during BIG EAST play.
Scouting Connecticut
• UConn enters the match with a 6-4-2 overall record, including a 2-3-2 mark in the BIG EAST.
• The Huskies currently rank eighth in the BIG EAST standings (eight points) with four league games remaining on the schedule, including the match-up against Providence.
• The Huskies are coming off of a 1-0 victory at Seton Hall in their most recent match on Oct. 20.
• Moussa Wade, Mateo Leveque and Jayden Reid are tied for the team lead in scoring with eight points each. All three players have registered two goals and four assists.
• Ben Awashie and Okem Chime are tied for the team lead in goals scored, with three each.
• Jahmali Waite has played 1,148 minutes in goal for UConn and ranks third in the BIG EAST with a 0.71 goals against average and a 0.769 save percentage.

• Providence will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 30 to host Villanova in its final regular-season home game on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. and will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network via FloSports.
