PROVIDENCE, R.I.- Providence College men's soccer player
Alvaro Maneiro (Madrid, Spain) was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 8, marking his first league honor with the Friars.
Maneiro helped lead the Providence through a three-game stretch that included a 1-1 tie against Boston University (Aug. 31), a 3-1 victory at Harvard (Sept. 4) and a 3-0 win over Rhode Island on Sept. 7.
The junior scored three goals over the final two matches. Two of those goals came against Harvard, giving Providence a 2-1 lead and later extending the margin to 3-1 over the Crimson. He tallied the eventual game-winning goal against URI en route to the Friars' 3-0 win.
The Friars will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 12 when they face off against the Bryant University Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. in Smithfield, R.I. The match will be streamed on ESPN+.
