Friars and Flames square off at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 22.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College field hockey team will travel to Lynchburg, Va. to take on BIG EAST foe and ninth-ranked Liberty on Friday, Oct. 22. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

SCOUTING PROVIDENCE (6-9, 1-4 BIG EAST):
• Providence College enters Friday's match with a 6-9 overall record, including a 1-4 mark in the BIG EAST.
• The match-up against Liberty marks the final regular-season road game for the Friars, who have posted an 0-5 record away from home.
• The Friars have earned a 6-3 record in games played at Lennon Family Field in Providence, R.I.
• The Friars are coming off of a 2-0 victory over cross-city rival Brown in their most recent game on Oct. 17.
Niamh Gowing tallied three points in the victory on one goal and one assist.
• Overall, Gowing owns a team-best and career-high 14 points on five goals and four assists. Two of her five goals have been game winners.
Lisa McNamara is second on the team in scoring with 12 points on two goals and a team-best eight assists. Each of her offensive totals mark career highs.
• McNamara ranks second in the BIG EAST and 30th in the nation in assists per game (0.53).
Asia Porter has played 835 minutes in the cage for Providence and owns a 2.01 goals against average and a 0.757 save percentage.
• She recently collected her first shut-out victory of the season as the Friars defeated Brown, 2-0, on Oct. 17.
• Porter ranks ninth in the nation in saves per game (6.21) and 22nd in the nation in save percentage (0.757).
 
SCOUTING NO. 9 LIBERTY (12-2, 5-0 BIG EAST):
• The Flames enter the weekend with a 12-2 overall record, including a 5-0 mark in the BIG EAST.
• Liberty ranks ninth in the nation and have been ranked among the top-10 for three-straight weeks.
• Liberty is in the midst of a nine-game win streak, during which they have outscored their opponents 40-6.
• Liberty leads the nation in four offensive categories: goals per game (4.21), scoring average (4.21), points per game (12.21) and assists per game (3.79). The Lady Flames are also second in scoring margin (3.14), 11th in goals-against-average (1.07), 15th in save percentage (.779) and 17th in penalty corners per game (7.21).
• Daniella Rhodes ranks No. 4 in the country in goals per game (1.18) and No. 5 in points per game (2.82). 
• A victory over the Friars would give Liberty a share of the BIG EAST regular-season title. 
• Senior forward Jill Bolton ranks seventh in the nation in goals per game (1.00) and points per game (2.36). 
• Senior midfielder Kendra Jones leads the BIG EAST and ranks 14th in the country in assists per game (0.62).

• The Friars will return home to Lennon Family Field to face BIG EAST foe Quinnipiac on Friday, Oct. 29. The match is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. and will be broadcast live on FloSports.
