PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's soccer team wrapped up their three-game homestand to open the season with a 1-0 victory against Hartford on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium on Thursday, Aug. 29.
Elayna Grillakis (Lowell, Mass.) converted a penalty kick in the first minute of overtime to clinch the win.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
- The Friars controlled possession in the opening 45 minutes and outshot the Hawks by a 8-2 margin, but the first half ended scoreless.
- Providence landed four shots on target, including two from
Elayna Grillakis (Lowell, Mass.), who nearly powered a shot from out the box over Maia Perez's outstretched hands. Perez corralled the shot and her momentum nearly carried her past the goal line.

Hannah McNulty (Warwick, R.I.) had two looks off of free kicks in the opening half but both attempts sailed over the crossbar.

Katelyn Vieira (Warwick, R.I.) was fouled inside the box to reward Providence with a penalty kick in the first minute of overtime. Grillakis converted on Providence's third penalty kick of the season.
