PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Providence College women's soccer team fell to Rutgers University, 1-0, on Sunday, Sept. 1 on Yurcak Field in Piscataway, N.J. Providence played to a scoreless game after 45 minutes but allowed the eventual game-winning goal in the 62
nd minute. Providence falls to 2-2 on the season before hosting UMass Lowell on Thursday, Sept. 5.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
- The game remained scoreless after 45 minutes of play. Rutgers outshot Providence 8-4 in the period. The Scarlet Knights nearly took the lead in the 28
th minute. Nneka Moneme of Rutgers ripped a shot at the top of the six-yard box heading to the bottom left corner,
Shelby Hogan (Franklin, Mass.) made a kick save to preserve the scoreless game.
- Rutgers gained a 1-0 lead in the 62
nd minute of play. Allison Lynch played a long ball from the right sideline that deflected off Hogan's hands, Julia Aronov cleaned up the goal inside the six-yard box for her first goal of the season.
- Providence put some pressure on the defense late in the second half. The Friars failed to connect after three opportunities in the box off a corner kick in the 82
nd minute.

Hannah McNulty (Warwick, R.I.) tallied two shots on net while
Amber Birchwell (Mastic, N.Y.) added one shot on frame.
