Women’s Soccer Falls To No. 11 Georgetown, 4-0

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's soccer team fell to the No. 11 Georgetown Hoyas, 4-0, on Sunday, Oct. 6 on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium. Providence allowed two first half goals and failed to trim the deficit in the final 45 minutes of play. This marks the first time this season the Friars allowed more than one goal to the opposing side.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
-The game remained even for the beginning portion of the first half before the Hoyas notched the first goal of the match in the 28th minute. Boo Jackson played a cross to Amanda Carolan at the edge of the six-yard box, Carolan finished a right-footed shot across Hogan.
- Georgetown built a 2-0 lead heading into halftime just four minutes later on a similar goal. Jackson played a lofted ball over Shelby Hogan (Franklin, Mass.) where Carolan was posted on the back post, she tapped in her second goal of the half on the goal line.
- The Hoyas led in shots after the first 45 minutes of play, 7-4.
- Neither team had many opportunities in the second half before Georgetown pushed its lead to 3-0 in the 75th minute. Paula Germino-Watnick put a shot directly at Hogan that she saved before Jenna Menta finished the rebound for her second goal of the season.
- Boo Jackson picked up her third assist of the game with just five minutes to play. Jackson dished Paula Germino-Watnick on the left side of the penalty mark that she finished past Hogan in the bottom right corner.
- Alexis Rothmann (Norwell, Mass.) and Amber Birchwell (Mastic, N.Y.) each recorded a shot on net.
- This marks the first time this season that Providence allowed more than one goal.
