PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College volleyball team lost in straight sets to No. 10 Creighton, 25-14, 25-21, 25-15. The Friars hold a 5-18 overall record (0-10 BIG EAST) and the Bluejays stay at the top of the BIG EAST conference standings with a 10-0 record, 17-3 overall.
FIRST SET HIGHLIGHTS: Creighton took the first four out of five points in the set to take the lead early. The Friars brought it within two (9-7), but the Bluejays went on a pivotal 13-3 run to create separation in the set (22-10). Creighton won the set, 25-14.
Addison Root (Wichita, Kan.) led the Friars with three kills on 11 total attacks.
Allison Barber (Woodbury, Minn.) had a team-high four assists.
Mackenzie Taylor (Holbrook, N.Y.) paced the defensive side with a set-high five digs.
SECOND SET HIGHLIGHTS: After the score stood at 6-6, the Bluejays broke the tie with an 8-3 run (14-9). The Friars pulled the set within one late in the set, 22-21, but the Bluejays went on to win the next three points to win the set, 25-21.
Jenae Alderson (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) had a set-high four kills on 11 total attacks.
Barber tallied all nine of the Friar assists and a set-high five digs.
THIRD SET HIGHLIGHTS: Creighton opened the set on a 11-3 run. The Bluejays held the lead and won the set, 25-15.
Root led the Friars with three kills on seven total attacks.
Barber had team-highs five assists and five digs.
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS:
Barber tallied her 18
th double-double of the season with 18 assists and 12 digs.
Root paced the Friars with nine kills on 26 total attacks.
Taylor registered 11 digs.
As a team, the Friars recorded 22 kills on 104 total attacks, 43 digs, 21 assists, and 11 total team blocks.
WHAT'S NEXT: Providence finish off their homestand with Seton Hall and St. John's. The Friars take on the Pirates on Friday, Nov. 1 at 6:00 p.m. and the Red Storm on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 1:00 p.m.
