PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's soccer team fell to BIG EAST foe Xavier, 3-2, in double-overtime on Sept. 27 at Anderson Stadium in Providence, R.I. The Musketeers scored the game-winning goal 1:16 into the second overtime, handing the Friars their first loss of the season on their home field.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
- The Friars started strong offensively notching four shot attempts in the opening 3:29 of play.
- Hannah McNulty (Warwick, R.I.) tallied her eighth goal of the season on the Friars' fifth shot attempt of the game. She bent a free kick around the Musketeer's wall and tucked the ball inside the right post just 4:47 into the game.
- Xavier responded quickly, taking the next four shots of the game.
- On the fourth attempt, Samantha Dewey converted her fifth goal of the season as she carried the ball at the top of the 18-yard box and struck it into the top left corner of the goal.
- Alessandra Arace (Pittsfield, Mass.) tallied her first goal of the season to put the Friars ahead, 2-1, in the 47th minute. She converted a header just under the crossbar off a corner kick, assisted by Kayla Steeves (Needham, Mass.).
- Xavier threatened to tie the game with a quick flurry of shots with under 35 minutes to play in regulation. The first two were saved by Shelby Hogan (Franklin, Mass.), while the third was cleared off the goal line by Hailee Duserick (Canton, Mass.).
- The Musketeers tied the game, 2-2, in the 71st minute on a header off a corner kick.
- With just 11 minutes left, Casey Estey (Kensington, N.H.) played a cross into the box for a wide-open McNulty, but the shot attempt sailed high and the game remained knotted at two goals apiece.
- The two teams remained deadlocked, 2-2, after the first 10-minute overtime.
- Xavier picked up the win just 1:16 into the second overtime as Sydney Schembri scored just inside the right post off a feed from Samantha Dewey during a corner kick.
- The Musketeers held a slim advantage in shots (16-14) and shots on goal (9-8). Xavier also recorded a 9-5 edge in corner kicks, including a 4-0 advantage during the two overtime sessions.
- The Friars' loss to Xavier marked the first of the season at home. Providence entered the game unbeaten on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium with a 5-0 record.
