Allyson Parker nets game-winning goal with 3:44 remaining in second overtime.
PHILADELPHIA, PA. - The Providence College field hockey team defeated Temple, 3-2, in double-overtime on Friday night in Philadelphia, Pa. Junior Allyson Parker (Orange, Mass.) tallied the game-winning goal with 3:44 remaining in the second overtime off a feed from sophomore Maddie Babineau (Milton, Ontario) during a penalty corner. The Friars improved to 5-5 overall on the season and 1-1 in the BIG EAST, and will have the remainder of the weekend off.

- Temple got on the board just 9:05 into the match as Kathryn Edgar released a backhanded shot from the top of the circle that found the top left of the cage.
- Providence responded with two goals to close the first half from junior Mary O'Reilly (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Natalie Mitchell (East Norriton, Pa.). O'Reilly scored at 26:53 off a feed from Maura Ingraham (Binghamton, N.Y.). Mitchell knocked home the go-ahead goal with just 29-seconds remaining on the clock in the first half, assisted by Kara Sanford (Hazleton, Pa.).
- In the opening half, Providence led in shots (15-4), shots on goal (9-2) and penalty corners (4-0).
- Ingraham's assist in the first half marked the first point of her collegiate career at Providence, while O'Reilly's goal in the opening half marked her first of the season.
- The Owls scored the equalizer after earning their first penalty corner of the game at 59:42. The goal proved critical and forced overtime as regulation ended in a 2-2 draw.
- Provience outshot Temple, 2-0, in the first overtime but were unable to find the back of the cage.
- In the second overtime, the Friars attempted three shots during the first five minutes of action, before being awarded a penalty corner at 86:05.
- Parker tallied the game-winning goal off the corner, assisted by Babineau at 86:16. Â
- It marked Parker's team-leading sixth goal of the season and fourth game-winning goal for the Friars.
- For the game, Providence led in shots (32-11), shots on goal (20-6) and penalty corners (12-2).
- The Friars have won four-consecutive games against Temple, including three of the last four in overtime.
- Lydia Rice earned her first BIG EAST victory in the cage for Providence with four saves. Her counterpart, Chloe Johnson, registered 17 saves for Temple.
