Friars conclude play later today with a 4:30 p.m. match against Hartford.
CHESTNUT HILL, MASS. - The Providence College volleyball team fell to Boston College, 3-0, on Saturday, Aug. 25 in Chestnut Hill, Mass. It marked the Friars' second match overall at the Boston College Invitational, and first of two the program will play on the final day at the tournament. Â
FIRST SET HIGHLIGHTS:
-Providence led 20-18 in the opening set, but the Eagles closed out the action with a with a 7-1 scoring edge to win the set 25-21.
SECOND SET HIGHLIGHTS:
- Providence trailed 20-10 in the second set, but went on a 6-2 scoring spurt to force a Boston College timeout (22-16). The Friars continued their strong run with four-straight points out of break to get within 22-20, forcing yet another timeout by the Eagles.
- The Friars fought all the way back to tie the set, 23-23, but the Eagles held on for a 25-23 victory.
THIRD SET HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Eagles dominated the third set, 25-8, and took the match in straight sets.
MATCH NOTES:
- Allison Impellizeri (Seaford, N.Y.) led the Friars with nine kills and two.
- Defensive specialist Mackenzie Taylor (Holbrook, N.Y.) recorded double-digit digs for the second-consecutive match to lead the Friars.
- Setter Allison Barber (Woodbury, Minn.) recorded 23 assists and finsihed second on the team with nine digs.
WHAT'S NEXT:
Providence will complete play at the Boston College Invitational with a match-up against Hartford at 4:30 p.m. The Friars will then return home to Providence, R.I. to host the 14th Annual Friar Volleyball Classic on Aug. 31-Sept. 1.
