Volleyball Falls To Boston College To Begin Day Two At Boston College Invitational

Friars conclude play later today with a 4:30 p.m. match against Hartford.

CHESTNUT HILL, MASS. - The Providence College volleyball team fell to Boston College, 3-0, on Saturday, Aug. 25 in Chestnut Hill, Mass. It marked the Friars' second match overall at the Boston College Invitational, and first of two the program will play on the final day at the tournament.

FIRST SET HIGHLIGHTS:

-Providence led 20-18 in the opening set, but the Eagles closed out the action with a with a 7-1 scoring edge to win the set 25-21.

SECOND SET HIGHLIGHTS:

- Providence trailed 20-10 in the second set, but went on a 6-2 scoring spurt to force a Boston College timeout (22-16). The Friars continued their strong run with four-straight points out of break to get within 22-20, forcing yet another timeout by the Eagles.

- The Friars fought all the way back to tie the set, 23-23, but the Eagles held on for a 25-23 victory.

THIRD SET HIGHLIGHTS:

- The Eagles dominated the third set, 25-8, and took the match in straight sets.

MATCH NOTES:

- Allison Impellizeri (Seaford, N.Y.) led the Friars with nine kills and two.

- Defensive specialist Mackenzie Taylor (Holbrook, N.Y.) recorded double-digit digs for the second-consecutive match to lead the Friars.

- Setter Allison Barber (Woodbury, Minn.) recorded 23 assists and finsihed second on the team with nine digs.

WHAT'S NEXT:

Providence will complete play at the Boston College Invitational with a match-up against Hartford at 4:30 p.m. The Friars will then return home to Providence, R.I. to host the 14th Annual Friar Volleyball Classic on Aug. 31-Sept. 1.
