BOSTON, Mass. - The No. 9 Providence College men's hockey team fell to the No. 18 Boston University Terriers, 2-0, in the Hockey East Championship Game on Saturday, March 17 at the TD Garden in Boston, Mass.

NOTES
- The Friars outshot the Terriers 18-9 in the opening frame. 13 different players recorded a shot on goal for Providence.
- Boston University rallied back in the second period to outshoot the Friars 12-6.
- Both teams took two penalties in the middle stanza. Neither team ended up getting more than a few seconds of power-play time and there was a rare, brief 3-on-3.
- The Terriers broke the stalemate with a goal just 56 seconds into the third period. Jordan Greenway battled for the puck in the corner and played it out front to Drew Melanson for the one-timer. Brady Tkachuk earned the secondary assist.
- With 11 minutes remaining in regulation, Hayden Hawkey made a sprawling, highlight-reel save on BU's Bobo Carpenter to keep the score 1-0.
- The Friars pulled Hawkey with just under two minutes left to play. BU's Carpenter cashed in on the empty net and increased the Terriers' lead to 2-0 with 1:22 on the clock.
- Providence will earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. It will be a program-record fifth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
- The Friars will be a No. 2 seed when the tournament field is unveiled tomorrow.
- The shutout marked the sixth time that Providence was blanked this season.
- Hawkey stopped 65-of-68 shots he faced over the past two games.
- Brandon Duhaime had a team-high four shots on goal.
- Duhaime and Jacob Bryson were named to the Hockey East All-Tournament Team for their efforts throughout the Hockey East playoffs.
