TALKING POINTSÂ Â Â Â Â Â Â
- The Friars concluded the first half of the season with a 6-0 win at Merrimack on Dec. 7 to improve to 9-4-3 (6-2-1 HEA).
- The Friars jumped on the board early as Kasper Björkqvist notched his team-high eighth strike of the season just 3:27 into the game.
Josh Wilkins and
Jack Dugan came down on a 3-on-2 rush and Dugan threaded a pass to Björkqvist at the far post.
- Providence struck again with just 46 remaining in the first period on
Spenser Young's sixth tally of the season. With the Friars on the power play, Wilkins fed
Brandon Duhaime at the near post and he centered a pass to Young who beat Pantano up high.
- The Friars continued the momentum through period two as they added a pair of goals to grab a 4-0 lead through 40 minutes.

Greg Printz scored his seventh goal of the season and Wilkins added his fifth of the season just 1:36 later to give Providence a four-goal cushion.
- Goals by
Scott Conway and Duhaime in the third period gave the Friars a 6-0 lead. The Friars are now unbeaten in their last four games (2-0-2).
- Hawkey's 12th career shutout sits one shutout shy of the program record (13, Jon Gillies).
- Duhaime recorded his first career three-point game and has five points over his last two games. It was the sixth career three-point outing for Wilkins and he extended his career-long point streak to six games (3-8-11).
- Seven players have reached the 10-point mark for the Friars through 16 games.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
• Providence and Brown will battle for the 100th time on Saturday afternoon in day one of the Ledyard Bank Classic.
• Freshmen Justin Jallen (5-2-7) and Tristen Crozier (3-4-7) pace the Bears in scoring through 11 games. Crozier's brother, Max, is a Providence College commit. In goal, Gavin Nieto (2.71, .907) and Luke Kania (2.44, .905) have shared duties for the Bears this season.
• The Bears concluded the first half of the season unbeaten in their last three games (1-0-2), including a 3-3 tie over then No. 11 Union and a 2-1 win over Rensselaer.

SCOUTING THE BIG GREEN
• The Friars and Big Green meet for the first time since the 2013 Ledyard Bank Classic, where the Friars pulled out a 3-2 win before falling to Air Force in the title game the following day.
• Dartmouth is led by junior Will Graber (3-6-9), while Drew O'Connor and Quin Foreman pace the team five goals each. Between the pipes, junior Adrian Clark has started nine of 11 games with a 2.63 GAA and .907 save percentage.

KOOPMAN TWINS JOIN THE ROSTER FOR THE SECOND SEMESTER
Marblehead, Mass. natives Matt and
Kyle Koopman will join the program for the second semester. Matt totaled eight goals and 17 assists with Waterloo (USHL) while Kyle tallied eight assists with West Kelowna (BCHL) prior to joining the Friars.

DUGAN NAMED HOCKEY EAST ROOKIE OF THE MONTH IN BACK-TO-BACK MONTHS
Freshman
Jack Dugan was named Hockey East Rookie of the Month for the second-consecutive month in November after posting a league-best nine points, four goals and five assists. He's just the second Friar all-time to be named Hockey East Rookie of the Month twice in one season (Jon Gillies, 2012-13). Dugan is tied for the NCAA freshmen scoring lead with 17 points and three game-winning goals.

JAY O'BRIEN COMPETES AT 2019 WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
Freshman
Jay O'Brien earned a spot on the final roster for the U.S. at the ongoing World Junior Championships in British Columbia. Preliminary round action continues for the U.S. against Kazakhstan (Dec. 28), Sweden (Dec. 29) and Finland (Dec. 31).

LEAMAN ONE SHY OF 300 CAREER WINS
Head Coach
Nate Leaman sits one win shy of 300 wins as a Division I Head Coach. 161 of his 299 career wins have come at Providence.

Goaltender
Hayden Hawkey recorded his fourth shutout of the season against Merrimack on Dec. 7. His 57 career wins rank third all-time at Providence and sits eight wins shy of setting the program record of 64 (Mario Proulx '84). His .649 winning percentage ranks second all-time behind Proulx (.653).

Spenser Young tops all Hockey East players with a +15 rating, including a +13 rating in nine league games.

The current group of seniors have dominated at Schneider Arena over the last three-plus seasons, going 44-8-6 over that span (.816).
