GAME FLOW & NOTES
  • Hannah McNulty (Warwick, R.I.) rang the post seven minutes into the game, nearly giving the Friars an early 1-0 lead. She got a left-footed strike on a through ball that allowed her to get wide-open just inside the 18-yard box, but her shot ricocheted off the left post.
  • McNulty had another great chance 15-minutes into the action, just outside the six-yard box, but her attempt was saved by Meredith Reinhardt.
  • After 45 minutes of play, Providence led the Red Storm in shots (7-4), shots on goal (1-0) and corner kicks (1-0).
  • Shelby Hogan (Franklin, Mass.) was called upon to make her first save of the game in the 51st minute. Claudia Cagnina unleashed a shot from just outside the 18-yard box, forcing Hogan to make a diving stop to her right.
  • St. John's got another good look at a scoring opportunity in the 67th minute as Samie Scaffidi got loose in the box and drilled a shot into the left post, with only Hogan to beat.
  • With 8:02 left in regulation, Lucy Whipp collected a loose ball on the left side of the box, and sent an uncontested shot out of Hogan's reach and off the crossbar.
  • At the end of regulation, the Friars held an 18-13 edge in shots, including a 6-1 margin in shots on goal.
  • In the 105th minute of double-overtime, McNulty rifled a clean just wide of the goal from seven-yards out.  Nearly two minutes later, Casey Estey (Kensington, N.H.) fed a ball into the box for McNulty, once again, who put her attempt right into the hands of the goalkeeper.
  • The Friars moved to 1-1-2 in overtime games this season.
