PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's soccer team hosts No. 24 Georgetown University for a mid-week BIG EAST matchup on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 7:00 p.m.

Scouting the Hoyas
Georgetown enters the match at 8-3-3 overall and 4-1-1 in BIG EAST play. The Hoyas are tied with the Friars for second place in the conference. Georgetown is unbeaten in its last five games and has gone to overtime three times in that span. The Hoyas are 3-0-2 in the last five, with both draws coming as 0-0 results. Most recently, Georgetown defeated Seton Hall by a score of 4-0 (Oct. 20). Junior forward Achara scored twice in the win.
Derek Dodson leads the offensive efforts. He has 15 points on seven goals and one assist this season. Achara is close behind with 13 points (six goals, one assist). Kyle Zajec and Dylan Nealis are tied for the team lead in assists, with five apiece. Freshman goalkeeper Giannis Nikopolidis has started 11 of the team's 14 games. He boasts a 0.76 goals against average and a 0.813 save percentage with six shutouts. Sophomore Ethan Koehler, who has only played two games, got the most recent start versus Seton Hall. He made five saves in just his second career appearance for the Hoyas.
Georgetown is back in the top-25 for the first time since Sept. 4. The Hoyas check in at No. 24 in the latest poll.
Scouting the Friars
Providence is 7-5-2 overall and 4-1-1 in BIG EAST play. The Friars currently sit tied for second place in league standings. Providence most recently picked up a crucial road point with a 0-0 double overtime draw at No. 8 Creighton (Oct. 20). Providence was outshot 12-9, but each team recorded four shots on frame.
Colin Miller (Beli Air, Md.) made four saves in his sixth shutout of the season.
Joao Serrano (Evora, Portugal) led the attack with two shots on goal.
Tiago Mendonca (Faro, Portugal) leads the Friars in points (eight) and goals (four).
Gil Santos (Parede, Portugal) is close behind with seven points on three goals and an assist. Fellow freshman
Andualem Chisholm (Attleboro, Mass.) has two goals, an assist and five points. Serrano also has five points (one goal, three assists). In net, Miller holds a 1.02 goals against average and a .722 save percentage. He's started all 14 games and has six shutouts.
Shutout Streak
Providence's overall shutout streak was snapped after 353 scoreless minutes. The Friars had not allowed a goal since Sept. 22 at Butler, but allowed one in the 69
th minute at Brown. In BIG EAST play though, the Friars have a 394:11 shutout streak and four-straight league shutouts.
One-Goal Games
Through 14 games, nine of the Friars' contests have been decided by just one goal. Six of those nine have been wins.

Providence has played five overtime games so far this season. All five have reached the second overtime period, with only two ending in a draw. The Friars hold a 2-1-2 overtime record this season, with extra time wins at SMU and Seton Hall.
Friars Versus Ranked Opponents
Providence has picked up victories over two top-25 opponents so far this season. The Friars defeated then-No. 8 SMU in double overtime, 2-1 (Aug. 24). Providence also took down then-No. 22 Xavier by a score of 2-0 (Sept. 29). Most recently, the Friars battled to a 0-0 tie at No. 8 Creighton (Oct. 20).
Stacking Up Against the BIG EAST
Providence is currently third in the BIG EAST in shutouts (six) and goals against average (1.00).
The Friars are fourth in shots (187) and corner kicks per game (5.86).
In terms of individuals, Mendonca ranks tied for tenth in the league in goals with four. Santos is tied for third in game-winning goals (two). In conference games only, Santos is the leader in points per game (1.40) and tied for second in goals per game (0.60). Miller is tied for first in BIG EAST shutouts (four) and ranked third in league-play goals against average (0.61).
Freshmen Impact
The Friars' roster features ten newcomers for the 2018 season. Six of the ten have seen action for the Friars.
Ramzi Qawasmy (Landsdale, Pa.) has started all fourteen games at center back, totaling 1,329 minutes on the season. Chisholm has made six starts and 11 total appearances. He was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week after a three-point weekend (Sept. 10).
Santos has come alive in league play, making five of his seven appearances in BIG EAST games. He's scored three goals and added one assist. He leads the BIG EAST in points per game in conference play (1.40) and is tied for second in goals in conference play (three).
Kevin Vang (Cranston, R.I.),
Raimondo Partito (Philadelphia, Pa.) and
Christopher Roman (Glastonbury, Conn.) are the other Friars who have seen time on the pitch. Vang has made six starts in 12 appearances, while Partito and Roman have each come off the bench.
