HAMDEN, CONN.– The Providence College field hockey team defeated Quinnipiac, 6-2, on Friday, Oct. 12 in BIG EAST Conference regular-season action. The match was played at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey Stadium in Hamden, Conn. Providence improved to 9-6 overall and 3-2 in the BIG EAST, while Quinnipiac dropped to 4-8 (1-4 BIG EAST).

- The Friars took a 2-0 lead into halftime on goals by
Maddie Babineau (Milton, Ontario) and
Sydney Cramer (Sciota, Pa.). It marked Babineau's third goal of the season, and the second tally of the year for Cramer.

Natalie Mitchell (East Norriton, Pa.) earned assists on both first-half goals, marking just the second multi-assist game of her career.
- In the opening 35 minutes, Providence led in shots (8-0), shots on goal (3-0) and penalty corners (2-0).
- The Friars jumped out to a 6-0 lead with four-consecutive goals to start the second half.
- The first two goals in the second half were scored by freshman
Amanda Collins (San Diego, Calif.) and
Izzy Mendez (Cedar Grove, N.J.) in a span of 48-seconds. Collins scored at 43:21 and Mendez followed at 44:09.

Mikayla Michals (Needham, Mass.) assisted on the Friars' first two goals of the second half. It marked the first multi-assist game of her career at Providence.

Mary O'Reilly (Longmeadow, Mass.) made it a 5-0 game at 50:14, off a feed from Mendez. The goal was O'Reilly's third of the season. She also scored in the Friars' most recent game against Fairfield on Oct. 7, marking the first time she has scored a goal in back-to-back games during her career.

Jenna Puleo (Essex Junction, Vt.) scored the first goal of her college career at 58:50, as she tipped in a feed from
Kara Sanford (Hazleton, Pa.).
- Quinnipiac didn't get off its first shot of the game until 54:08, with the Friars leading 5-0. The Bobcats rattled off a total of 11 shots in the final 15:52 of the game.
- The Bobcats tallied two late goals to close out the scoring at 59:38 and 68:21.
- For the game, Providence led in shots (18-11) and shots on goal (9-7). Both teams finished the contest with seven corners apiece.
